My colleague got into Trump's sprawling family detention camp, which is full of toddlers, kids, & teens.
- Kids have cut themselves or talked about suicide
-There's worms & mold in food
-300 kids have been held for 30+ days, far longer court settlement allows

Marimar Martinez is a hero.
She was shot 5 times by ICE.
The agent told her to βdo something b*tchβ before opening fire.
He later bragged β5 shots, 7 holesβ.
DHS tried to smear her reputation but video footage vindicated her.
Next week she will testify in Washington about ICEβs brutality.
Really fantastic piece by @vox.com: "Authoritarianism feels a lot like normal, predictable life β until it doesnβt. Thereβs a hidden tripwire you can step on, but you often donβt realize youβve stepped on it until you find yourself with a gun in your face."

I will not support funding for DHS without clear accountability and stronger controls over the agency.
It is time for the Senate to do its job and rein in this lawlessness.

National media should really be covering the fact thay every major school, museum, and arts institution in the Twin Cities, and hundreds of local businesses are closed tomorrow to protest federal occupation.
Nothing like this at this scale has happened anywhere in America anytime in living memory.

Be sure you are registered to vote and make an action plan for how you will vote. Even if you registered before, make sure you check that you are still registered.

5. Call your senator and representative. And your state representatives too!
Yes, it can feel futile, but we have to keep up the pressure. @5calls.org (5calls.org) has easy to read scripts you can call in with.
4. Attend a protest.
You don't have to make a sign. You don't have to chant if you don't want to. Just be there. It will connect you with like minded people and the more people who show up, the more visibility pro-democracy movements have.
3. Join your local @indivisible.org group and show up to meetings.
Maintaining civil society is one of the best ways to combat authoritarianism. And indivisible is doing incredible work.
2. Become a poll watcher (www.eac.gov/election-off...) or volunteer to serve as a poll worker.
Free and fair elections are one of the cornerstones of democracy, and they are under threat in the US. How the midterms playout & the extent to which we are able to combat voter intimidation is critical.
Are you feeling helpless in the face of incredible political uncertainty? Are you angry with what's happening in America right now and want to channel that energy? Here's some ways you can make a difference right now:
1. Volunteer or donate for an election campaign.
Local elections matter too!
People in Minnesota need to understand their own elected leaders are doing this to them.
Do not buy their excuses about how they are doing everything they can. They are lies. They have enabled this regime at every turn.
We have entered a new age of American imperialism.
