28.09.2025 14:59 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0All very simple. Just pocket hole joinery. I might hide the holes and the screws later… but for now it’s functional and doesn’t look half bad.
28.09.2025 14:57 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0The first project was this side table, to house my flatbed scanner. I use the scanner to scan my line art before I color it digitally and I needed a side table that I could wheel out to my computer. I also added a nook where I can charge devices and keep them out of view.

28.09.2025 14:53 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0The 2nd project involved adding an adjustable drafting desk tabletop to my art desk.
I dreamed this up a while ago and although It’s not a perfect job, it absolutely works.
Completed my first (very simple) woodworking projects this past week, and I’m pleased as punch. Both projects were designed to make my life easier as an artist.

We're back!
Season 2 of Altered States starts today with an interview with @michaelpollan.bsky.social who walks me through the religious leaders magic mushroom study. It's a good one! open.spotify.com/episode/7gJe...
Also, this seems like a good time to mention that I'm a freelance podcast host (with years of experience making and hosting critically-acclaimed shows), and I'm always open to discussing new projects. So hit me up if you think I might be a good fit.

Thanks for making this possible @prx.org @scipsychedelics.bsky.social
Excited to announce that Season 2 of Altered States begins next week!
This season we're examining the spiritual side of psychedelics, and how that side has been interacting with the more science-oriented side of psychedelics. In other words: This is gonna be good.

27.08.2025 18:23 — 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0You’re completely right about the word disease. I was falling asleep when I wrote that. My apologies for that one.
23.08.2025 21:02 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0My critique has to do with using the term “during covid” bc it implies that this disease is no longer around. So I’m slightly confused by your tone and reaction? Maybe you’re misunderstanding me?
23.08.2025 06:12 — 👍 5 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0If you don’t take the time to say what you mean, then to all those people who are still very much in this, it feels like a slap in the face. And again- it’s inaccurate to say “during Covid” when Covid is still here and isn’t leaving. It’s ok to ask for precision.
22.08.2025 00:30 — 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0The actual impact is that listeners who still take a lot of precautions feel less alone, less left behind.
And for people who have moved on, it typically doesn’t cause offense to say “at the start of the pandemic” etc — so it’s just a nice thing that also happens to be more accurate.
But it does?
My post was about my colleagues who use careless and inaccurate wording. That’s it. Not any other situation. I’m a science journalist and I work in a field where precision matters. And It’s ok that you don’t see it that way.
It’s fascinating to me that you refuse to see how that term might feel invalidating (and might seem incorrect) to folks who acknowledge the ongoing reality of COVID. And how small of a request it is to say something slightly different. Truly, I’m fascinated — Because we agree on so much! And yet!
21.08.2025 21:54 — 👍 6 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Ok listen I can see your side! What I’m wondering is what this has to do with my initial post? I take issue with the term “during covid” bc it implies that covid is gone and done with. You and I both agree it isn’t. So what are you arguing with me about exactly?
21.08.2025 21:26 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Covid is not like the flu. It’s bad practice to compare the two. And yes, post-viral chronic illnesses have been around for a long time but the increase in recent years is something we can’t ignore.
