• Facility dogs: CHOP has two facility dogs, Dilly and Nettle, who assist in the hospital environment, providing comfort and distraction to patients.

• Pioneering research: Over its history, CHOP has been involved in many medical firsts, such as producing the first vaccine for whooping cough in 1936 and the first for influenza in 1943.

• Historical support: During the Great Depression, the hospital received support from many, including a $1,500 donation from Al Capone.
