Franklin Graham was previewing the foreign policy of the United States when he called God a β€œGod of war” last month. This is an idol that scripture warned us of. What we believe about God shows us the boundaries of our ethics. God is a God of peace - not war. Reported by @briankaylor.bsky.social

A black and white photo of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Bonhoeffer is a white male. He is in his 30s, white male with round wire rimmed glasses and thining blond hair. He is sitting in a high back garden chair and is facing to the right focused on someone off camera with his left hand behind his head. He is wearing a grey 3 piece suit and grey tie.

l invite you to celebrate a true Christian Christmas, one that does not consist in banquets or drunkenness or an exchange of meaningless gifts, but that truly reaches the destitution of our poor people β€”St Oscar Romero, 2nd Sunday of Advent (A), 1977 #StOscarRomero

Very interesting take on Wes Streetings' recent display of ignorance with regards to what he claims is an 'overdiagnosis' crisis.

Disability theology began with Christology. Nancy Eiesland’s The Disabled God: A Liberatory Theology of Disability centers upon a vision of God in a sip-puff wheelchair, one given a particular theological backing through analogy to Christ’s post-resurrection wounds. For Eiesland, as Christ is wounded, Christ is disabled. While references to Eiesland’s text are nearly ubiquitous in writing on disability theology, few have examined the Christological implications of Christ wounded for us and its relevance for Christian doctrine. In this paper, I will pick up on one recent dogmatic engagement with Eiesland’s text, Lisa Powell’s The Disabled God Revisited, in order to reflect and further build upon recent Christological endeavors in disability theology, all in order to demonstrate how disability can contribute to our Christological imagination. It is my claim that sustained engagement with disability offers a deeper understanding of the implications of the Christ who was wounded for us.

There is a certain comfort in hopelessness. It allows us to guard our hearts from being wounded again. The gospel calls us to the dangerous work of believing that God might indeed be active in our world that in the midst of so much darkness there is still space for light.

I used to stay out of euthanasia debates because I wanted to listen well and allow for the possibility of ending unnecessary suffering in old age.

I know speak up against euthanasia because however the policy is written, weve seen it unnecessarily target poor and/or disabled people for early death.

Because far too many NHS experts that I trust β€” people like @doctoroxford.bsky.social and @paulapeters19.bsky.social β€” oppose the #AssistedDyingBill, I cannot support it. Instead, it’s time for a referendum on social care, palliative care, and this issue as well, when it’s ready.

I will say that theological diversity in general is good. People who disagree with us should not be labelled as either ignorant or unfaithful. We can hold to our own convictions, while respecting the differences of others. #theology

Advent Devotional - Amy Julia Becker Christmas can be about stress and parties and consumption. But it can also be about love and peace. Get your copy of this Advent devotional!

Jesus was born into hardship and disappointment. Yet in that very real, very disillusioned, very raw placeβ€”he brought peace, hope, joy. He brought love. That comforts me. Walk with me through the season of Advent (begins next Sunday). amyjuliabecker.com/advent-devot...
