The Kode website is terrible, as am I at both art and tech. However, whilst not being able to narrow down the picture, I'm fairly sure it was one by Johan Christian Dahl.

Very reminiscent of a landscape I saw in the Kode Gallery in Bergen, Norway. I have tried to find the painting, but their website is dreadfull.

I'll try again later.

Dublin city guide: what to see, plus the best hotels, bars and restaurants As the city marks the centenary of the Easter Rising, our writer finds its free-thinking spirit alive at offbeat museums, bars, restaurants and in its architecture

I'm visiting Dublin soon, so I looked up things to do, eat, drink &tc. Found this Guardian article and fuck me. Museum with a room dedicated to U2 wasn't even the low point. Celtic Tiger reborn bullshit as well.

Suggestions diammetrically opposed most welcome

Idly wondering what I should keep in a little pouch, next to the dog treat pouch, that I could flick at the glasses of any wanker wearing them to disable them. The glasses, obvs.

No, ignore the above, it was "put through a window". D'oh. Really must check and check again. Sorry.

I try not to use BBC news, and that was a Hampshire/IOW report...

Otherwise, your post was the only mention of the event that I've seen.

Seems a signal flare is mistaken for a smoke flare by the media and, as you know, the two are very different beasts. "Fired into" was what caught my eye.

A flare into a building! And nothing gets reported? Don't think most people understand what a flare is. But of course these "journalists" will not do their bloody jobs.

Encouraging signs of people taking on and defeating their nemeses, particularly amongst the young.

To be encouraged.

I agree. The problem is is that I can't see any way in which Israel and its actors are going to be meaningfully held accountable.

By whom? Already in progress in the ICJ. But what sanctions and punishments beyond a metaphorical slapped wrist are available?

I loved Winnie when I was a sprog. My family bought a pub in '86, when I was 18. A few weeks later mum called me downstairs to say hello to a bookshop owner who was having lunch with his family. It was Christopher Robin Milne. Really nice bloke, and very forebearing.

If you want to keep on the rich'n'powerful road, I'd go for a decent dark rum.

And the snowy whiteness of Everest's peak is caused by high altitude chemtrails raining down and bleaching that there lava.

Fabulous news! Now you can go to one place to be told to fuck off, there's no money to help you, rather than having to be told fuck off there's no money to help you at various portals.

Probably took a mouthful of the toxic mix of sewerage and battery-farmed chicken shit that is the modern Wye.

LOL, I read that in the voices of Frankie Howerd and Kenneth Williams, and laughed like Sid James.

I'm not sure, it was just some conjecture, but I can ask a hydrographer or two what they think - although one is Admiralty and the other Royal Navy, so probably get the official line either way.

I'm more of a sailor than an etymologist, but could it be that a strait describes a passage through restricted waters, and that e.g. that an east-west passage through the Dover strait would, in terms of navigation, course steered &tc, be different to west-east, hence the plural?

So what's going to replace "petrolhead"? "Volthead"? "Ohmster"?

Looks as scruffy as my old pub, with or without a Β£10 lottery win spent on it.

Name has a certain ring to it though.

Been trying to think what the VE80 graphics vibe is reminding me of, and it's this.

Kate's hometown, and yes that is extremely English Channel weather.

The dark fluid emanating from the cliffs, by the way, is oil. The only onshore oil wells in the UK are few tens of miles east along the coast.

Ha, me too. Allowed an hour to change at Geneva, spent most of that parked in an outer suburb of Lyon. 12 minute change and now I’m on the pendolino to Milan. If I’d missed it I would’ve missed the sleeper to Syracuse tonight. Gulp.
