So apparently, it may turn out that The Wizard of Oz at the Las Vegas Sphere wasn’t entirely made in AI and Google threw the VFX crew under the bus by claiming it was all done by artificial intelligence.

If true, then fucking yikes.

Linked In post from Mike Matsel, Principle Development Lead, XBox Graphics: "The XBox Graphics team is hiring folks with experience with device drivers, GPU performance, or related validation or engineering system experience. And below it is an "AI" slop that reads in white on green "XBOX GRAPHICS IS HIRING" and an image of a woman in a green sweater wearing earpods typing on a computer, except the "AI" has put the screen on the back of the monitor.

The fucking head of fucking XBox Graphics used a fucking "AI" slop image to hire new engineers but couldn't tell that the fucking screen on the fucking monitor is facing backwards.

AI is a previously worn, pus filled bandaid, made for bosses with Dark Triad traits that hate having to directly deal with people

Finding Your Pain Points and Joy Points Most authors instinctively know what brings them joy in the writing process, but they've been trained to ignore it in favor of what they think they "should" be doing. Here's what I tell authors: Identify your pain points — the parts of the process that are most annoying and aggravating. Then let AI handle the majority of the work in those areas. Some examples I've seen: The author who loves plotting but hates description now uses AI to flesh out scene details while keeping all the plot development for themselves. The author who adores character development but struggles with pacing uses AI to help structure scenes while diving deep into character work personally. The author who enjoys dialogue but finds action scenes tedious collaborates with AI on fight scenes while writing every conversation by hand. There's no right or wrong way to divide this work. The only rule is to protect your joy.

The Suffering Myth Needs to Die Let's crush this toxic idea once and for all: You are not supposed to suffer for your art. The notion that you have to practically open your veins and bleed onto the page for your work to be any good is romantic nonsense that's keeping authors miserable. If writing is your full-time job, why are you making yourself miserable doing it? Think about it this way: If you had a friend who was constantly miserable at their job, you'd tell them to quit or find a different approach. You wouldn't tell them that suffering was necessary for success. I want my writing career to be a total joy. I can still write stories that people love and enjoy every moment of the process. I don't need to suffer, and neither do you.

This is an "author" using the idea that you shouldn't suffer for your art AS A REASON TO USE GENERATIVE AI TO WRITE INSTEAD.

That is not what that phrase means. It doesn't mean you shouldn't emotionally connect with your art--it means you shouldn't fucking starve or have chronic depression.
