The last census was 2021...and e-bikes also really took off in that same year...the results won't show up until the next census in 2026...

How in the world is a TTC day pass (13.50$) cheaper than a classic bikeshare day pass (15$). This makes no sense... #biketo #ttc #topoli

If it were up to me, there would need to be community council approval to build a parking lot with more than 25 public spots or 50 private spots that empties onto a streetcar route, or any bus route with more than 20k daily passengers...

Why wouldn't you work on both...but phase it so that the easier bits open sooner...why should Waterloo and Kitchener wait for Cambridge to be ready, when they could probably find a number of projects that could be done much quicker...

Lol...who said that...I just said that the plan should be to expand at a regular rate...for example if you have two routes, and one is going to take a lot longer to build because of bridges or complex design...but you have another route that is going to be quick and cheap to build...

I'd just have a page on your website - under About/Organization/Funding (or finances) - and just update it once a year with a few detailed sections "Government Partnerships", "Public Donations", "Foundations/Other Charities/Grants"...and have some information about what they are paying for...

Obviously you don't have to put that on your website...but it's a common thing that I have heard in the press, and it's a common thing that I have heard from others, and has been written in communications from residence associations etc. in TMMIS...

All I'm saying is that it would be helpful to have a better breakdown of what the money the city is giving you is funding (and TAF, CAP, Feds, Province, etc.) because it's really easy to look at the CRA website, see the numbers and assume that this money is going to fund the lawsuits and/or advocacy

If that’s the case it would be very helpful to explain on your website what this money is, what it’s for, and why your own reporting to the CRA indicates that you do…you’ve seen the negative press about this…so just correct the narrative and get to the top of google search instead of the sun..

KING Toronto is dumping folks right onto king between Bathurst and Spadina, despite easy access to Wellington…basically preventing that whole section from easily being pedestrianized in the future…

It doesn’t help that we build the condos on the main streets and then dump the cars from them onto the main streets…better to build gentle density on under utilized minor streets…

They need to move to a rolling deployment with fixed costs per year, and a 10-20 year plan…there are lots of places in Waterloo and kitchener that could do with service…

I’m not sure why Aecon would even be suggesting this, since the subway is way more likely to get done and survive multiple governments…it’s also likely to be successful and it bankrupt them or make them look like fools…part of me is sceptacle that they should be working on any tunnels now…

Toronto: A Real Solution to Highway 401 Congestion — an Express Subway. A subway to Pickering makes much more sense than a 401 Tunnel.

Reminder, you do not need a crazy and risky and super expensive 19m diameter tunnel to provide 99% of the transport capacity the premier of Ontario is talking about on the 401 corridor -- you can easily extend the existing subway.

It might be time for Toronto to declare independence. Between the bike lanes and the school trustees, the changes to representation, the inability to tax…the number of issues that are stacking up against Ontario are getting bigger…

Last month a cyclist stopped at a stop sign in #HighPark, the tour train behind him did not, & crashed into him. The cyclist's bike was damaged, he sustained a concussion. @tps.ca despite daily ticketing of people on bikes in the park for not stopping at stop signs did not issue a ticket 1/3

There were two incidents of shootings at unattended enforcement vehicles in the mid to late 2010s….i suspect it has to do with that…or just common sense given what Torontonians do to traffic cameras these days…

Households could net thousands of pounds in savings from clean tech – report A report from Ovo, however, warned that the initial costs of installing solar panels, heat pumps and batteries are prohibitive for many people.

Chief Exec of Ovo

“We’ve stumbled into a false debate. We talk endlessly about the cost of action and investing in net-zero – but the real crisis is the cost of inaction

“There is a clear economic reason for moving to clean energy sources.”

Parking enforcement likely sees a higher amount of violence than transit enforcement…also a higher consequence job with potential for getting run over etc…it’s wrong in all cases…but just follow one of the bike cops giving out tickets for a week on TikTok and you’ll see it’s a tough job…

And I’ll just go and say it. Parking enforcement likely sees way more violence than transit enforcement…and is probably a way higher risk job…

Here are the stats for those wondering…we are losing 70m$ on the bus system…for context the parking enforcement brought in 100m$ on 50m$ spent on enforcement (parking collects 150m$ from folks who pay)…and they’ve never even considered analyzing parking to optimize enforcement…

06.08.2025 01:47 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

It appears the city makes almost as much revenue from parking 160m$ as they do from parking enforcement (100m$)…which is kinda crazy…

50% of the TPA system is “tunneled” or “elevated” - infrastructure is a big cost for them…interestingly TPA doesn’t get to keep the money collected if you don’t pay…while TTC does…they also don’t pay for the enforcement staff, but ttc does…

More interesting is this little bit of info…fare evasion only seems to be happening at the front door of buses…lol…8% at the back door (just 20m$)…so the risk of allowing all door boarding isn’t as much as having front door boarding (lol…I know, i know)..

Some interesting facts on the Toronto side…TPA revenue from parking is 160m$, but the police spend another 50m$ on enforcement (which I assume they recoup)…but imagine if 1/3 of the TTC’s budget was spent on enforcement…in any case TPA and police have never tried to optimize this…

05.08.2025 22:57 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Interestingly it’s very hard to figure out what the ttc is actually spending on fare enforcement…in theory though they could be spending up to 1/3 of their budget on enforcement…which seems nuts…

According to this the TPA has not invested serious effort in figuring out what they lose from folks who don’t pay for parking….despite parking enforcement having a budget of 50m$ and TPA only collecting 150m$ from parking…lol…
