Senate Democrats’ Abandonment of Adeel Mangi Made Emil Bove’s Confirmation Possible Senate Democrats could have confirmed Biden nominee Adeel Mangi to the Third Circuit last year. They caved to a disgraceful right-wing smear campaign instead.

Reminder that when Democrats get brushed off the plate by obvious bad-faith (and false!) “soft on crime” scare tactics, we end up with this.

Congratulations to the U.S. Senators who tried to pander to people who were never going to vote for you no matter what.

Tesla's Robotaxi Service In San Francisco Is Actually Just Going To Be A Regular Old Taxi Service - Jalopnik Instead, Tesla will provide a "chauffeur-style service operated by human drivers." Translation: taxis driven by cabbies.

The Thomas Edison of our time—inventing shit that existed when Edison was still alive.

These type of guys’ whole game is to “reimagine” stuff that’s existed for decades and charge you 3 times as much for half the quality.

This morning's news was difficult to hear. Gerry Connolly wasn't just a Northern Virginia icon, but a friend. I count myself lucky, as a Fairfax County resident, to have benefited from his decades of leadership – a legacy that will be felt for generations to come.

For over 30 years, Gerry Connolly has championed Fairfax County and Northern Virginia’s most pressing issues.

As both a constituent, and as a friend, I’ll deeply miss his leadership and unwavering commitment to our community.

Man, this is such a good program that really helps people with addiction issues live in recovery. It’s inspiring what people can do if given help and a chance

The DOJ's Civil Rights Division was founded in 1957. It's one of the reasons I was inspired to serve as a federal prosecutor under President Obama.

Now, 60+ years later, the Trump admin is destroying one of the most powerful institutions dedicated to fighting discrimination.

“Due process” is like the beating heart of the American experiment.

It’s foundational, essential to life, and easy to take for granted.

“Contempt” is a word you’re going to hear a lot in the news today.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the two main forms of contempt:

While Jason Miyares may call himself the "People's Protector," he's working overtime to do the exact opposite. 🧵

As Republicans try to justify their rampant Constitutional violations, my only hope is that the Supreme Court will see this for what it is: a disgraceful attempt by far-right actors to assume even more unchecked power.

01.04.2025 21:10 — 👍 2    🔁 1    💬 0    📌 0

Miyares has proved, time and time again, that he is nothing more than a lapdog of Trump and the MAGA movement.

It's become painfully obvious that he cares more about currying favor with the President than he does about his constituents.

Instead of advocating for Virginians, fighting to protect their rights, and standing up to the President's gross abuses of power, our Attorney General is fighting to give him even more.

It's not only shameful — it's terrifying.

Just hours after Miyares bragged about his amicus brief on Twitter, Trump admitted something we'd all suspected: he'd mistakenly deported someone, with no way to bring him back home to his family.

Due process isn't just some obscure legal term — we're talking about people's lives, their safety, and their ability to be with their loved ones. When Trump, Miyares, and their cronies violate these rights, entire communities become less safe.

01.04.2025 21:10 — 👍 2    🔁 1    💬 1    📌 0

Miyares and his gang of far-right extremists want to give Trump, who has already expanded his powers far beyond those of any other President, even more authority to ignore the due process rights of both American citizens and immigrants.

There is only one reason for these guns to be unserialized, or for their owners to not be subject to background checks: to make it easier to commit crimes.

After years of disappointing rulings from this Supreme Court, I'm glad they're finally making a decision that actually keeps Americans safe.

This isn't a small problem. In 2017, law enforcement officers seized 1,600 ghost guns that were used to commit crimes. In 2021, they seized 19,000 — more than 10x the amount they had just 4 years prior.

These guns are used almost exclusively to commit crimes, with step-by-step kits shipped straight to the doors of individuals who can't legally own a firearm. That includes minors, people with violent criminal histories, and those suffering from mental health crises.
