Oof, I was living in Rexburg during the Bednar years, and I'm sure the stories we heard then are the same types of stories you're hearing now. It does not bode well. Best wishes for surviving at ground zero. It definitely takes its toll.

I'm rooting for you. Especially because yesterday, my daughter saw one of your posts on my feed and yelled, "Wait, SHANNON HALE?! I love her books! They're in my school library! YOU KNOW HER?!" And I explained that social media makes you THINK you know people, but not really. 😉 Keep up the goodness.

NPR's Pop Culture Happy Hour podcast came to much the same conclusion as Jana Reiss. Good performances portraying supremely terrible people. Not the type of hype I want to support, given how that trope is playing out in our real lives right now.

Oh, I haven't missed it. There are really dumb ideas and decisions that the characters make, no question. But that happens in real life, too, with people expecting us to get on board with terrible people and choices. I'm not saying it's good we should cheer, just saying it's kinda accurate.

I get the hate, despite my undying love for Love Actually. But I think it gets hate because the premise is miscategorized. I don't think it's meant to be a rom-com. I think it's meant to show the complications and absurdities of all types of love, expanded to move proportions. So we hate AND relate.

I love this. I'd also love to know other titles that were on the short list. "Bless These Donuts to Nourish and Strengthen Us?"

I am BEGGING reporters to please press the administration for the evidence they used to justify killing all these people. Stop taking their word for it that these people are drug dealers!

One day, when I was a student waiting to meet a prof in the U of U Languages and Lit office, I overheard a VERY respected lit professor respond to a question about what she did over summer vacay by saying, "I read trashy romance novels every day. It was glorious." Perspective changed!!!

My interactions with this woman in her role as county councilperson have given me little doubt that she does not care one whit about anyone who doesn't look like her or believe like her.

Rexburg is one of those "nice" towns, where people are (mostly) nice to your face but will eviscerate you behind your back. It was that way 30 years ago, it is that way now, and such will it always be. I'm sorry you're experiencing it.
