Yeah. I used to play a lot of Alpha Centauri as the science faction on insane difficulty and the entire gameplay loop was:

- early tech advantage
- grab a few bases
- boost industrial and economic output to match enemies
- profit

Having played many times the science route, it's not hugely viable in the real world because to have the space to invest in science, you need to have security and it's hard to do that unless you're also the pre-eminent military and economic power.

I've always been a science person and have always valued progress. All my Civ runs are mostly that unless something goes wrong, and so that's what I'd maximize.

Oh yeah, it made a point of pointing out my spelling mistakes... God damn Claude 🤣

Still, it did improve the plan, and being able to communicate with it helped me refine my own plan.

Today I got Claude Code to review a plan for setting up a new repo and it totally sassed me about how complicated and risky my plan was, and how I needed more research about the risks of the plan, which it duly went off and researched, before declaring my plan adequate (with changes)

Then people like me have to pick up the pieces afterwards while being talked down to that I don't really understand how gender works, or my understanding isn't quite correct. But it's correct enough for GNC people to feel comfortable in my presence. *shrug*

TERFs don't believe that, and their overly simple and stupid models and understandings of themselves are just broken and harmful to everyone around them. They make themselves miserable through their own ideology, and don't help their own community. It's a shame.

Most women conform a lot more to stereotypes than everyone realises, and the way they want to violate stereotypes is very different from GNC women. And that's because either being GNC or gender conforming comes from inside and can't be changed.

If I had a pound for every GNC woman who has told me that stereotypes are wrong and women don't have to conform to stereotype norms and that this is normal and natural and exactly their experience and thus applicable to everyone, I could buy a top tier game.

If TERFs were doing a better job and serving their own communities (usually composed of GNC people) then they should be the ones telling GNC people that they are not like most people and trying to be normal will cause them to destroy themselves.

There are lots of reasons TERFs annoy the hell out of me, but the least selfish one is that their ideology hurts their own people. There's been enough gender non-conforming (GNC) people that I've met who I'm the first person that will tell them that they are GNC.

Anyway, over-analysis aside, it's a cracking song and I like it.

Other than that, maybe I'm at a liminal space at work, wondering whether I need to move on and find a new role in order to grow and change, but I'm really comfortable where I am right now and it's difficult to shake that feeling. I'm not as sure what I'm doing is worthwhile, not like I was.

That journey has been mirrored in how I've joined the Green party, abandoned mainstream journalism and become unapologetically "far left" (as right wing news sources who have never seen real Communism up close would put it).

Some of it is political. I've just recently changed how I view the world and I no longer care anymore about small gradual change. I'm more ready to "Tear it down, burn it down", but I still hope that the destruction will create something good at the end. I have more hope.

As for why it's brainworming me, I'm not sure. Some of it just captures the early trans experience - the way you try and do things carefully, slowly, and then people break something in you, empathy disappears and you charge forward, terrible in all your power, but there's always a reckoning later.

The song is amazing too, and the breakdown video explains that it captures a sense of oppression that resolves into more freedom, which I can attest is the feeling I get.

Firstly, I just love the music video. It managed to be peak anime distilled into a short music video. I love the visuals of being locked in a small room, the breaking free, the ships getting blown apart and then the fight between the two girls.

The game is Tales of Arise, which I've resumed playing after the last time I played it, ages ago when I was sick. It's certainly not hard, but it has a lot of soul and the characters are charming. Closest game I've played that captures the anime soul.

For those who are interested: Reborn to Master the Blade is the anime, which is brainless enough that it can be binged but not so awful that it's annoying. I'd recommend it, but only if you aren't in the mood for a great anime.

Off work today due to feeling ill. Not sure what it is as all I feel is tired. But I've spent the day watching some random anime and playing a computer game that is perfect for my brain at this time.
