Also: Target wouldn't be "Target" without Ikea & millennial greige. Get a bunch of cheap neutral furniture from IKEA, then get all your accents & tchotchkes from Target. Dorm room lifestyle economics, & millennials stuck there for a decade or two bc it was cheap & the internet wasn't what it is now.

I type this as I'm sitting in today's version of a "nondescript" hotel room, all gray with reddish-orange accents, and thinking how they probably renovated to downsize these rooms (more rooms on a floor = more profit) and just put "minimalist" furniture in here to make the space *seem* bigger.

I'm NOT saying that we should love millennial greige, but that it comes with a cultural/economic CONTEXT.

Greige boxes are easy to customize with wall art, throw pillows, bright blankets, cheap rugs, etc. Neutral, low profile shelves are less important than the colorful books/toys/plants we put on them.

Like YES I love my current colorful cluttered living space, but I was lucky enough to buy my own home, and back when I was in apartments, it was TRICKY to deal with gramma's heirloom furniture because of its size/weight/cleaning requirements.

Okay as much as I hate millennial gray etc etc, it's worth noting that that aesthetic is extremely renter-friendly, cheap, often easy to set up/move/clean, and takes up less space than older furniture/decor styles (so it's better suited for smaller living spaces).

This is all speculation, natch, but I'm absolutely *sure* some people are doing the math of Trump's failing health vs delaying the release of the files, and making contingencies for that.

Vance will step up as the Untainted (hah) Redeemer of the R party, having bartered choice redactions for loyalty.

And this would work, if they didn't have so many people in their party willing to sell each other out for one (1) corn chip. It's actually going to be uglier than this.

The worst R crimes will be hidden by the long, long shadow of their Fallen Idol & their race to see how many Dems they can implicate via 6 Degrees of Separation. And again, if Dems are actually complicit, they can burn, but their extended networks will be investigated too, once there's an excuse.

Those on their side that they sacrifice - and I bet a lot of backroom deals rn are about who gets to escape this fate - will be held up like "see, we CARE about justice!" so that it becomes an excuse to purge as many Dems as possible (and good riddance, if they're actually complicit).

Once he's dead, they can say "he hid the truth from us this whole time, we had no idea," and he won't be alive to refute it. They can redact a few key names to save their own skins, sacrifice a few folks on their side that are past usefulness otherwise, and make HAY out of all the Dem names.

I think Republicans are waiting to see if they can push the release of the files just long enough for Trump to kick it. Because once he's dead, it becomes a different issue. They can throw his legacy under the bus easier than they can a live president.
