Also - thank you for the comment. To get into Boston Basin, where the first photo was taken, isn't a very long hike but it is steeply UP. Maybe 6 miles round trip with 3000 feet of gain. But it's a special place and absolutely worth the hike. Permit required but easy to get!

It was 19 hours of continuous movement, 6000 feet of gain, five hours of alpine climbing on the East Ridge Direct route, and three hours on the hairy "east ledges" descent. This is a photo of my friend, looking back down the ridge as we neared the summit. A big day!
