There has never been a singular “pure,” “real” Christianity. There’s always been internal contestation, socially mediated interpretation, and a plurality of Christianities even apart from the long history of formal divides, even within e.g. Catholicism or Orthodoxy

This is it exactly. Prioritizing “the great commission” makes Christianity and especially its American evangelical form supremacist. We must deal with this. If we do, then that’s good spirituality, however defined. There’s so much to this.

The sheer cynicism of the phrase 'vaccine groupthink' is enraging. It spits in the face of centuries of rational thought and the scientific method, and instead proffers conspiratorial thought and ignorance with the imprimatur of authority.

A thoroughly equitable liberationist Christianity would have to disavow the Great Commission—not just water it down by claiming it means Christians should live Jesus’s example, but actually disavow it as colonizing ideology.

Proselytizing is never “good news,” so to speak. Discussing one’s beliefs without crossing a line into proselytizing can be different, but the Great Commission clearly calls for proselytizing, and that’s anti-pluralist

I think an outright ban would be counterproductive, but I think it would be acceptable to make certain zones (like college campuses or popular parks) off limits. Otherwise I think we should just make it cringe. Maybe launch a PSA series

I'm a multi-racial dude with roots from Indonesia, so i grew up with stories of spirituality that included gifts and paranormal encounters

The biggest difference i saw between those and new age spirituality was that gifts are meant to serve others for free
