Yup
31.07.2025 18:20 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0There has never been a singular โpure,โ โrealโ Christianity. Thereโs always been internal contestation, socially mediated interpretation, and a plurality of Christianities even apart from the long history of formal divides, even within e.g. Catholicism or Orthodoxy
31.07.2025 16:59 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This is it exactly. Prioritizing โthe great commissionโ makes Christianity and especially its American evangelical form supremacist. We must deal with this. If we do, then thatโs good spirituality, however defined. Thereโs so much to this.
31.07.2025 14:03 โ ๐ 29 ๐ 9 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The sheer cynicism of the phrase 'vaccine groupthink' is enraging. It spits in the face of centuries of rational thought and the scientific method, and instead proffers conspiratorial thought and ignorance with the imprimatur of authority.

Yes because "stop bugging people" is exactly the same as saying you should never ever mention faith. Rolls eyes.
31.07.2025 15:13 โ ๐ 8 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A thoroughly equitable liberationist Christianity would have to disavow the Great Commissionโnot just water it down by claiming it means Christians should live Jesusโs example, but actually disavow it as colonizing ideology.
Supremacist baggage is inherent in the Great Commission. Deal with it
Also, this is my entire jam:
"Any time someone responds to your attempt to set a boundary with some version of 'If I respect your boundary, I am violating my religion,' you should feel free to tell them that their religious freedom ends where your own religious freedom and moral autonomy begin."
THIS RIGHT HERE:
"Whether conversion efforts are controversial outside the church is apparently immaterial to Kristian, and I probably couldnโt come up with a more obvious example of unexamined Christian privilege if I tried."
Republicans hate "diversity" except when it's a code word for giving reactionaries and extremists more power.

I'm Romani.
My family came here ~1911 fleeing this kind of sh*t.
The dream of a place that would finally be safe for us didn't even last til the third generation born here.
The idea that everyone needs to be Christian is genocidal, so you shouldn't be surprised when the people you're trying to wipe out object.

31.07.2025 01:15 โ ๐ 20 ๐ 6 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Proselytizing is never โgood news,โ so to speak. Discussing oneโs beliefs without crossing a line into proselytizing can be different, but the Great Commission clearly calls for proselytizing, and thatโs anti-pluralist

But you and I both know that part of what is shared is a belief that the other person is going to hell. That's abusive every time.

30.07.2025 19:57 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I think an outright ban would be counterproductive, but I think it would be acceptable to make certain zones (like college campuses or popular parks) off limits. Otherwise I think we should just make it cringe. Maybe launch a PSA series

Anyway, responsibility was mostly instilled in those matters, as opposed to the desire for status i saw in new age

I'm a multi-racial dude with roots from Indonesia, so i grew up with stories of spirituality that included gifts and paranormal encounters
The biggest difference i saw between those and new age spirituality was that gifts are meant to serve others for free
