What โ€˜free speechโ€™ at Stanford Law School really means OPINION: Stanford Law School and legacy media appear to fetishise โ€˜civilityโ€™ over human rights and democracy

I've actually written about this before, particularly with respect to how "intellectual diversity" functions in academic settings:

There has never been a singular โ€œpure,โ€ โ€œrealโ€ Christianity. Thereโ€™s always been internal contestation, socially mediated interpretation, and a plurality of Christianities even apart from the long history of formal divides, even within e.g. Catholicism or Orthodoxy

31.07.2025 16:59 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 4    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

This is it exactly. Prioritizing โ€œthe great commissionโ€ makes Christianity and especially its American evangelical form supremacist. We must deal with this. If we do, then thatโ€™s good spirituality, however defined. Thereโ€™s so much to this.

31.07.2025 14:03 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 29    ๐Ÿ” 9    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

The sheer cynicism of the phrase 'vaccine groupthink' is enraging. It spits in the face of centuries of rational thought and the scientific method, and instead proffers conspiratorial thought and ignorance with the imprimatur of authority.

Yes because "stop bugging people" is exactly the same as saying you should never ever mention faith. Rolls eyes.

A thoroughly equitable liberationist Christianity would have to disavow the Great Commissionโ€”not just water it down by claiming it means Christians should live Jesusโ€™s example, but actually disavow it as colonizing ideology.

Supremacist baggage is inherent in the Great Commission. Deal with it

Also, this is my entire jam:

"Any time someone responds to your attempt to set a boundary with some version of 'If I respect your boundary, I am violating my religion,' you should feel free to tell them that their religious freedom ends where your own religious freedom and moral autonomy begin."

THIS RIGHT HERE:

"Whether conversion efforts are controversial outside the church is apparently immaterial to Kristian, and I probably couldnโ€™t come up with a more obvious example of unexamined Christian privilege if I tried."

My family came here ~1911 fleeing this kind of sh*t.

The dream of a place that would finally be safe for us didn't even last til the third generation born here.

The idea that everyone needs to be Christian is genocidal, so you shouldn't be surprised when the people you're trying to wipe out object.

Is Proselytizing Ever Okay? Are We All Proselytizing All The Time? Excuse me, reader, but would you have a moment to talk about the obnoxious practice of asking people to talk about โ€œourโ€ lord and savior? In a previous piece for RD, one of the reasons I gave for why ...

Proselytizing is never โ€œgood news,โ€ so to speak. Discussing oneโ€™s beliefs without crossing a line into proselytizing can be different, but the Great Commission clearly calls for proselytizing, and thatโ€™s anti-pluralist

I think an outright ban would be counterproductive, but I think it would be acceptable to make certain zones (like college campuses or popular parks) off limits. Otherwise I think we should just make it cringe. Maybe launch a PSA series

And that which lives beyond the grave should remain there, because it will not necessarily be benevolent

Anyway, responsibility was mostly instilled in those matters, as opposed to the desire for status i saw in new age

I'm a multi-racial dude with roots from Indonesia, so i grew up with stories of spirituality that included gifts and paranormal encounters

The biggest difference i saw between those and new age spirituality was that gifts are meant to serve others for free
