I only thought of it because the mental health nurse at my Dr's practice told me (as a trans woman) that they would still consider me to be their most concerning demographic (middle-aged man). They were then very apologetic about considering me male, but it kind of hammered home the point a bit.

I don't particularly think it's coincidence that the group that's currently considered most at risk of suicide is "cis" men aged between 35-45, which kinda correlates with the average age that trans women come out.

I've realised that because people were talking about the omber Mafia the other day that I've subconsciously conflated William who wrote the article and Malcolm Gladwell who wrote the book. I think it stands for either of them.

Malcolm needs a CT scan to determine why he's so full of shit. That's why he can't get an x-ray. It's not justified under IRMER.

Eventually doing the "if you could instantly change into a girl, with no social repercussions and no change to your relationships, but it was permanent, would you do it?" Thought experiment is what finally cracked it for me. But it was a real issue getting through all the internalised shame.

I did meatballs in ours earlier. Came out really well. Also reheated some leftover pizza in it at lunchtime which worked a treat.

I didn't ever really get dysphoria pre-transition. I just kind of passed through life not really contemplating myself. But what I did get (and needed to untangle from the shame/stigma of misattributed arousal) was Euphoria.

GENDER EUPHORIA is one of the best things about being trans for me, and for most trans people.

It’s a feeling not just of contentment, but absolute unbridled joy, and it’s something cis people can experience too!

But then again, as far as I can tell this was just an admin lady, and I'll have more of a talk at the end of the month with the nurse.

Main thing that surprised me was that they didn't have access to my main records and history and they seemed entirely indifferent to that? They asked what thoughts I'd had about HRT (methods/dose) and all of my thinking has been risk mitigation to do with stuff they seemed indifferent too?

Kind of went well. Now have a prescribing phonecall arranged for the end of the month. Have also said I was interested in a referral for fertility preservation and was surprised at how good that offering was (10 years free storage, reasonable defrost and use cost).

In theory this should be NHS funded and an informed consent model, so I'm really hoping it goes well. The anxious part of me is still worried they'll just decline to prescribe on health grounds.
