#hfxws: no Bayers MUP for me today. But I can tell you that the Saunders Park and Armcrescent pathways are still snow covered.

We used Stuart Graham sidewalk to get into Westmount, where roads were all clear enough to get to Almon, then Connolly northbound. Most sidewalks were not yet clear.

Yep. Walking routes to school should be plowed BEFORE schools open; or they should keep schools closed until they are. We made the same choice you did, but we shouldn't have had to -- plows should have prioritized school routes!

I don't believe HRCE actually thought HRM was competent. I think the decision makers think they've exhausted their snow day quota for now.

Last year (or maybe the year before) they cancelled school two days in a row, and one of those was explicitly because HRM plowing hadn't yet been completed.

The year is 2035. Council has voted to delay the bike network yet again. Finishing it will now cost $500 million.

#hfxws: there's at least a few centimetres of snow on the ground already #Halisky, and it's blowing around out there too! Snow plows are out clearing the roads in my neighbourhood, but I doubt we'll see a sidewalk plow until after the snow stops falling.

I mostly get replies telling me “crews are still working in this area” or the replies come so long after my original email that they say “let us know if this is still an issue now/next time you are through that area” rather than assign a service request number.

I'll send it in again now. I haven't sent anything into 311 in more than a week now; any nothing I've sent all month has resulted in a service request #, so I'm not optimistic.

Using the word “dispatch” to make you think something is actually happening here; but in this context it probably means “emailed” or notified.

#hfxws: Almon details: the sections of protected lane W of Windsor are full of snow. E-bound, enter the bike lane using the vehicle lane; and W-bound, exit to the vehicle lane (dodging 2 lanes of cars). IMO, lane is clearest btwn Robie & Agricola and worse btwn Windsor & Robie, both directions.

I missed the deadline for 2025-26 after school care registration in May last year, and had this same feeling when I realized, mid-summer. Thankfully, they found us a space; but there were a few days of very uncomfortable uncertainty.
