It was great to connect with our community @msuscifest.bsky.social ! At the “see your speech” station participants saw their speech and learned how speech acoustics help diagnose neurological conditions that affect speech! Baby Enzo joined in, enjoying his first of many Science Fests to come!

It's almost time for MSU's annual Science Festival! The SONiC Lab will be located in Room 2201 of the STEM Teaching and Learning Facility on April 5th and 6th from 11:00 AM-4:00 PM. Come "see your speech" and learn how acoustics can be used in healthcare applications! We hope to see you there!

We had a great time at the 2024 Parkinson's Hero Walk in East Lansing, MI. The SONiC Lab had a table with local Parkinson's resources and information about how to get involved in ongoing studies in our lab! We also lead the group in vocal exercises! #michiganparkinsonsfoundation #parkinsonsdisease

On September 21st the SONIC Lab will be attending the 2024 Michigan Parkinson’s Foundation Hero Walk! It will be from 9 am-12 pm. The walk will start at People's Park (Behind Wells Hall) on MSU’s campus. We hope to see you there!

Speech styles and speech amplification devices: If you have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s or parkinsonism and have noticed voice changes, participate in our study to explore different speech styles and devices! Participation involves 1 – 2 visits at our lab in East Lansing, MI.

Parkinson’s “Communication Conversations” Series: Share your experience with communication challenges since developing PD. Our current topics are: perceptions of speaking effort, experiences with speech therapy, and experiences with speech amplification devices. Participate in-person or via Zoom!

Sara had some very intrigued audience members at her poster at UURAF (University Undergraduate Research and Arts Forum)!

This Friday, April 12th is MSU’s annual UURAF convention! The forum is open to the public and will take place at the Breslin center on MSUs campus. Two of our undergraduate research assistants, Sarah Cooke and Brooke Emerick, will be presenting.
