The movie Cars and the whole Carse XU makes me uncomfortable. Why is there human scaled infrastructure and roles but no humans? Whi di the taxis haul? The plane crop dusts crops… for what? Why are there fighter jets?

Guys, I think the WSJ found the smoking gun of what happened to the American Dream starting in the late 70s/early 80s , and guys, it wasn’t immigrants.

The chair!! Any Latino who grew up in warm climate knows the chair. It is also the official chair of Miami backyards, and often kitchens or even dining rooms.

If you can’t follow the lyrics it’s ok. I’m a native Spanish Speaker and let me give you an analogy. A new Kendrick Lamar song comes out where he’s rapping fast and how well can you follow every lyric in real time? And does it matter?

For what it’s worth, I always thought American Idiot the Musical was really good and it appears there’s currently a US production touring. Including Columbia, MD this summer.

Apropos of literally nothing, an AI image of Albert Einstein first with hair combed, and then clean shaven, reminds us how physical iconography matters for many famous people.

I should note, however, he was writing in the minority on that one. But the legal framework and idea is still insightful.

He goes on:
β€œThe mere fact that law enforcement may be made more efficient can never by itself justify disregard of the Fourth Amendment. The investigation of crime would always be simplified if warrants were unnecessary.”

The Wagnerian music in the old Wonder Pets (ca 2008) is far, far better than the Sondheim-ish style the Wonder Pets in the City (2024) goes for. The former is far funnier and campy. The latter tries to be too, literally, a musical.

In all honesty I don’t see how cold climate places can get to 100. Or just in general. There will be a likely need for ~5-10% gas powered vehicles for things like heavy trucks and utility functions, etc. At least until tech and charging catches up. Like, by 2035-2040

Above All Else, Be Right An short essay on truth as moral discipline

β€œAbove all else, be right” is not a call to arrogance. It is a call to discipline.
...
Truth is not everything. But without it, everything else collapses.
...
Speak freely and argue passionately, with conviction, for sure. But above all else, be right."

I mean, *technically* we did beat the crap out of Confederate rebel scum. In that specific case I’m glad Lincoln bullied those states into submission with forcing arms. Just being pedantic. lol

While I’m decidedly Team Dog, at least in Super Kitties they have super powers and magic charms so there’s kind of fewer questions to ask. Plus their purview seems to be just helping other animals, not the primary response to all public safety and disaster response.

Re: Paw Patrol: who the hell funds this operation? That’s like hundreds of billions of dollars of militarized equipment that this kid has in his compound. And why is safety and disaster response privatised to these shadow-funded dogs? I’m sort of concerned. Is this a failed state city ?

Honest question: why aren’t we seeing more hat mounted GoPros out there? I get not everyone just has one. But more surprised the people going out to fully prep gear don’t choose a GoPro type camera to free up their hand.
