21.09.2025 06:36 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Oh, you're going to be at Unreal Fest? I just arrived in Stockholm, hope I'll see you there!
20.09.2025 21:44 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I wonder why all these great indie games are coming out of Australia where they have a massive public funding effort for videogame creators
10.09.2025 08:22 โ ๐ 1860 ๐ 358 ๐ฌ 24 ๐ 12Everyone's playing Silksong and here I am, having just finished Ender Lilies. Gorgeous game, that.
07.09.2025 11:51 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0What's the highest bang-for-buck automated test? The one that's going to catch the most issues for the least investment? I'd argue it's probably smoke tests!
You can read a full blog post on them below, but here's a short thread summary...

Charcoal is objectively the best kind of grill. Anyone claiming otherwise is in the pocket of Big Propaneโข

If I have a coronary in my sleep, blame the Scottish.

Some thoughts on Contraband's cancellation on my blog:

The same son who is now in charge of the whole franchise?
20.07.2025 06:00 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0It is! And it's delicious!

10.07.2025 11:04 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Ping @kainar.bsky.social because it's his fault I'm obsessed with Georgian food (but mostly khachapuri).
10.07.2025 10:42 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0That moment when you're looking for a place to eat lunch at and realize there's a Georgian restaurant two blocks away.
Guess who's about to have some khachapuri?
This isn't the first time I've realized a segment of the media roundup post was running too long, but this was the first time I decided to keep the whole thing and just spint it off into a separate post. I'll probably do that in the future, as well!
03.07.2025 07:00 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Anyway, here's a review of the first volume of "Tsugumi Project", a manga I apparently had more to say about than I initially thought!

You ever start writing a "short summary" of your thoughts about something, only to realize you've somehow written 750 words and it's now *way* too long to be included in your monthly media roundup post?
Just me?
For sure! And it does seem kind of impossible to solve at the momentโeven if studios were willing to show more of their production processes, we still couldn't guarantee that any single given asset wasn't made with GenAI...
29.06.2025 18:37 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0"Gamers getting mad because they don't understand how games are made" is truly evergreen.
I tend to assume it's because of the high level of secrecy at AAA studios, but I admittedly don't know enough to know if it's any different in industries like film.
I realize I'm extremely late to the party, but I just rolled credits on Disco Elysium.
Holy *fuck*, what a game.
Not sure about that one, but I did see an article last week about how the "Great Replacement" theory is entering the mainstream discourse, so uh...
24.06.2025 06:46 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I did some searching, and it seems you're right! The UK policy was announced in April 2022, whereas the Danish agreement with Rwanda happened in March 2021.
That's... fucking wild, jfc.
For those that don't read Swedish, there's a news post on Avalanche's website:

Alright, I've gushed about Avalanche's CBA, and I've published this month's roundup of stuff I've read/watched/played on my site. Sinusitis is *killing me*, so I'm gonna go relax for a bit.

Thanks, Adel! And while I may have done much of the early work, the efforts of the club in the year since I left have been monumental, from what I've heard.
Hope you're doing well over there. Let me know if you're ever in Malmรถ so we can grab a drink ๐ป
Woke up to the best news today. Kudos to Avalanche for keeping the commitment they made to me and the other employees last year, and thank you to the current union representatives who continued the work we started!

Seriously, this first part that I'm writing now is all numbers and data; I think it makes a good argument for a general reduction in work-time.
But the second part is where I get to flip the table and interrogate the very premise upon which the whole debate is based. Way more exciting!
This is by far the most research I've done for a piece of writing since I was in university. I already split it into two parts, so that I could get the "business case" out first and then spend some more time researching for the second part.
The second part is the more fun one, though.
