This work exists as part of a broader ecosystem of modular tools in the cryo-EM community with the goal of making it easy for new users and developers to customize for their specific application. Especially in the early days of in situ structural biology, rapid iteration is important!

@joshdcryoem.bsky.social got us connected with #teamtomo, worked alongside Matthew to contribute to the code, built the simulator and adapted Leopard-EM to perform pixel size optimization and constrained search.

This project was driven by Comp Bio PhD student Matthew Giammar who designed the structure and wrote most of the code. He separated the core functions from the user facing programs to make it easy to build new functionality with minimal changes to the user interface.
