While the U.S. goes for gold & aims to be the best at the Olympics, it's already #1 among independent democracies when it comes to mass incarceration – and that’s nothing to celebrate.
So much for the “land of the free.”
Just going to repost this from November 2025 for people who do not belive IL/IHL impacts the US. Despite our being bound by the Charter and multi/bi-lateral treaties, we ignore IHL across the board. But other states do care about IHL and therefore will not be accomplices to our atrocities.

05.02.2026 20:01 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I cannot stand the "this is a good start" discourse. The Democrats in Congress do not want to abolish ICE. They have proposed a series of bog-standard reforms regurgitated by a think tank. Everyone knows they do not work. The Democrats supporting this do not care. They just want to move on.

Closing date is 16 February 2026.
And ICs are administrative tribunals - not 'real' courts in the way people think of Olivia Benson, etc. So even more wedded to the feds and subject to the whims of a lawless regime that governs by fiat. It's bad bad real bad. Need court observers badly.

3/ I don't know if anyone caught that hearing yesterday where Ted Cruz tried to convince Americans that the clear and present danger to freedom of speech in the US is (wait for it!) EU stringent AF cyber/digital laws.

But, it's important to talk about the way US is (quite obviously) violating IHL/etc. but the way they are trying to infringe on EU/State sovereignty is pretty stunning

I didn't realize just how important both are in the current climate in the US. As a citizen by birth of the US - a jsem občanem České republiky - and therefore EU citizen

05.02.2026 14:49 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0The "self deporting" thing is happening in the courtroom as well. I've been observing for a few months ICs in NYC. One judge asked a man "do you have money to self deport?" pardon me? This is part of the pretermition strategy behind closed doors as well as in Wipple (and others).
