I’m all for getting rid of them, or paring them down. I just know what’s going to happen when someone tries it.

I was on the bike board and wondered what the cost was. Multiple staff members, a few consultants, required public notice, council approval process, training. It all adds up.

Every commission has fans and anyone who goes after them will be painted as a monster. You want to abolish the Green New Deal Oversight Board or the Immigrants and Refugees Commission? The Bike or Ped Board? And half of what council does is appoint board members? What would they do with the time?

Does anywhere in the world have a wealth tax?

We’re doomed if this is the map. And I wouldn’t doubt if it is. Time to get those blue states growing again!

It is not formal, but you need approval and the city will always want to see chutes and compactors on larger buildings. And with the rules in place at a certain size you can’t approval to do anything other than roll off compactors and chutes or managed waste rooms, which owners don’t like.

In Seattle the city pushed hard for waste chutes. What are they doing in Europe instead?

Last time I went there the owner was talking about applying for Pike Place. I have a hard time believing he’s outgrowing the space, as he only uses half and it’s always empty. While the bagels are good, he is the least customer focused business owner I’ve met.

The funny thing about the J line project is that it is really a bike project masquerading as a transit project that is secretly a utility/paving project. I believe there will be little to no bus lane added. But I’m looking forward to a new safe bike way.

What is your familial relationship to Canada? My grandma was born in Alberta, and I found it in a 1916 census, but no one stayed there. Thanks!

If you’re not cops, you’re little people.

The NFL also requires an individual (aka plutocrat) not an entity (municipality or nonprofit) to own teams. There by blocking municipal ownership and ensuring they can continue to blackmail cities into lavishing money is stadiums and subsidies.

NFL agrees to end race-based brain testing in $1B settlement on concussions The league accepted changes after an outcry over test score adjustments known as "race-norming," which make it harder for retired Black players to win dementia awards.

As many of us watch the Big Game today, I am reminded that in the year of our lord 2022 the NFL had to pay $1 billion to players because it assumed black peoples had lower base IQs than white people when determining brain damage.

But this will ruin the Seattle tradition of adding just a little excitement and danger to every bike route. They let you get nice and cozy then throw you to the wolves at some random point.

One Seattle Plan Zoning Update This website shows proposed zoning changes that implement the new Growth Strategy in the One Seattle Plan, including updates to Neighborhood Residential zoning that fulfill requirements in House Bill ...

Seattle just dropped the latest corridors, neighborhoods centers, LR, and MR zoning changes. The zoning changes, minor as they are, will eliminate 3 out of 4 departures on a stacked flat building we’re working on.

It could also be one of the great bike cities. It’s relatively flat, dense, and has great weather. But instead it’s a icon of car culture.

All of these environmental groups seem to forget that the alternative to urban growth isn’t no growth, it’s sprawl. Tell me, how bulldozing forest and fields helps orcas, and other plants and animals? How does more driving and more parking lots and more roads help the environment?

The SEPA exemption has saved so much time and money previously waisted on studies that go nowhere and helped get housing built faster. Sign in con to help that crucial reform from being rolled back.

An unprotected bike lane is really just a narrow parking spot.

A car got pulled over for failing to yield to me on my bike with kids using a crosswalk. I was shocked. I think this is the second time I have seen a driver pulled over for anything in 10+ years of living in SE Seattle.

Not on the same level, but they also can’t seem to fix the lights through Judkins Park. So what should be a safe and car free walk to the station is almost totally dark right now.

It says that landlords are required to provide cooling like provide heat. Is there another option besides AC?

19.01.2026 22:44 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

If you want to see less housing built, requiring AC at $5-10k a unit is a great way to do it. This will kill projects at a time when it’s already difficult to build and will result in higher rent for everyone.

Mount Baker Park Public Restroom - Parks | seattle.gov This project bring the bathroom to meet accessibility requirements as part of Seattle Parks and Recreation's major maintenance and asset management program.

$750k for two bathroom stalls at Mt. Baker Playground. This is one reason Seattle can’t have nice things like public bathrooms. You could buy a townhouse and let people use the bathrooms for that much money.
