I think America is the greatest country on earth because it is founded on a set of ideals, and in every generation, people loudly complain about the country falling short of said ideals, and put everything on the line to ensure future generations might live to see them be realized.

I moved to the U.S. when I was 18. One of my firmest core beliefs is that there is simply no country, no people group, no institution morally superior to another.

The arc of the moral universe is long, but it requires those who care to actively bend it toward justice. And many do try.

I don't understand how they live with themselves

The incredible courage and calm of these women compared to the pathetic, sweaty cowardice of a gang of armed men with badges is truly remarkable. I wish none of us would need to find this courage, but I hope all of us find it when called upon.

This is such an important point. This family tried to follow the rules.

I believe it's because each was* anchored around the boiling/freezing points of water. F had 180 degrees of separation and C used 100. Thus the conversion being 100/180, or 5/9, with an offset of 32 (the absolute difference in the freezing points)
