Agreed. Just thinking that you have to pull the rug out from them under them when make the plot a mess. All this build-up, and then you suddenly make it something else. Just look at something like Game of Thrones, where they felt that they needed more shocks, and it led to... the last season.

I'm always confused when writers change the plot because a reader figured out what was coming. Surely that's good? Surely that means the breadcrumbs have been laid out appropriately?
