AI is so blatantly evil, consuming the planet to make crappy art and the wrong answers, and yet in just a few years it's been rolled out as the answer to all our problems, the standard technology will make our lives easier and do everything for us. Yeh, the US is very much an oligarchy now. Trump made it very clear last year that he was on the side of the oligarchy, and because the oligarchy control what we see the people swallowed his lies and thought that he was on their side.

Oligarchy (noun):

A government of and by a few at the top, who exercise power for their own benefit. Their power and wealth increase as they make laws that favor themselves, manipulate financial markets, and create monopolies that put more wealth into their pockets.

It's all down to racism. People will try to give the usual justifications with the Trump administration, saying that it's protecting their country, but it really is racism.

Minutes ago today the Trump regime abruptly cancelled citizenship ceremonies for several immigrants in Boston.

THEY CANCELLED CITIZENSHIP CEREMONIES.

These immigrants followed every rule & did everything right—Trump banned them anyway. All are from Black & brown majority nations.

I agree. You just look at the people running things and those cheering them on, and they are just ridiculous, disdaining science and coming up with bizarre pseudo-intellectual justifications, treating knowledge and learning as the enemy, and taking such pride in this.

This is such a foreign concept on the other socials... I nearly missed it.

The Monk by Matthew Lewis is a classic gothic tale which was very controversial when it came out for its sex and violence. It's kind of trashy, but still enjoyable. It tells the story of the downfall of a pious monk seduced into sin. There's also a subplot with a ghost and evil nuns.

Suggest me a book and tell me what its about. Fiction or nonfiction welcome.

Like for all we know, things could have worked out for Ernest and he died at 85 and died with lots of children and grandchildren. But that's for us to speculate. You could imagine him really upset over how he his brother seemed to go insane hunting down Elizabeth's killer or whatever.
