the middle tab in the cap below shows much the pupil differs across the sensor and how small it gets until it can't be reliably located at all and the rendering breaks 😓

not 100% i'm comparing the exact same lens here but seeing some kind of match, barring the effects of the mysterious "aperture edge" control... not a very fair test but lensform is way faster 😈

the chromatic aberrations control defaults to 0.0 and it's not clear if 1.0 is physically accurate or what but it definitely gets pretty vibrant comparing 0.0 and 1.0 with the petzval preset:

it's pretty fun to play with and fairly fast, not seeming to slow down or show artifacts even at f/64 so probably using ray guiding if it's not the polynomial optics aperture sampling method... here's f/2 vs f/16
