You can be one of the most popular figures on the cultural landscape and it won't matter; if white racists don't like you, you're controversial and polarizing. White racists are meanwhile never framed as divisive or polarizing, no, they're always "concerned" or "anxious."

lol I don't think a lot of white people believe that Black people are reliable narrators of our own stories.

And IMO this comes from white people wanting to downplay how much anti-Black racism shapes Black people's lives.

Every Black woman everywhere, I hope that, if nothing else, tonight you know in your heart of hearts that you are not crazy.

I also think it’s an issue of people really not getting that Black folks want freedom, not a merely a reaction. They wanted to maintain their dignity. Not merely appeal to wishy washy white folks.

Have we romanticized the civil rights movement so much to think that the violence imposed on them was some great win? Yes, and that’s partly because there’s still not an understanding of the constant violence that occurred to spur the movement.

You’ll feel less confused if you admit to yourself that some people don’t care about the suffering of others, and some people like it.

The state doesn‘t need a reason or justification to be violent and abusive. It’s incredibly difficult to convince white folks of a certain class of this fact.

Everything that happens to people who aren't white is a distraction to white libs.

Next time someone says they don’t have to apologize for being white anymore, ask them to tell about the most recent time they were forced to apologize for being white and who made them do it.

It's cute, reading all these anguished cries: "when this is all over, these guys need to go to jail!" I remember saying that during Bush I crimes, and during Bush II crimes, and during Trump I crimes.

Guess how many of those guys went to jail.

Your life is worse off because too many white people hate Black people.

There is an unrelenting honesty that's needed to have a democracy, but very few folks that aren't Black folks want that type of honesty about this country.

These types of articles consistently forget who the actual base of the party is, and that a person like John Stewart appeals to a very narrow set of people by class and race.
