05.08.2025 02:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0In a year of many difficult budget decisions, we are grateful to the DC Council for keeping funding for the new DC State Archives building at UDC in the capital budget, and including additional funds to improve Naylor Court. These projects preserve important DC and federal history!

17.07.2025 03:34 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0In this article, Bowser money man Kevin Donohue claims their harebrained scheme to put the DC Archives in a shed will cost half of the 2018 budget estimate.
Putting aside the effects of seven years of inflation, he is just lying. They haven't taken a cost estimate for their scheme.
It was quite a lot of whiplash for us too - the project seemed perfectly on track until a few weeks before the Mayor's budget was released.
14.07.2025 02:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0To everyone who wrote a one line email, testified, or just bothered your councilmember at Safeway, this is your victory.
The new archive will open later than we hoped, but the funding for the current building will make DC's most valuable historic resource available like never beforeβand soon. ποΈ

Our Assistant Director, in conversation with our CEO, explores this question in a new guest blog for the American Alliance of Museums' Center for the Future of Museums.

You should put two spaces after a period when:
- Writing a fax to your travel agent
- Penning a eulogy for your uncle who just died of "confumption"
- Addressing the constable or lorde of the duchy

Send a single word email to Mayor Bowser's chief of staff. Don't overthink it. Just say you want it completed as planned. Be nice. Curse. Whatever.

Student housing should not be pitted against the city's historic resources in a year that 1/2 a billion dollars is going to a stadium.
30.05.2025 20:22 β π 4 π 4 π¬ 0 π 0We've added a statement to our website and added ways to help save the DC State Archives building project:
www.dcarchivesfoundation.org/statement-ab...
The Mayor of Washington, DC wants to cancel its badly needed state archives after ten years and millions of dollars of work.
Why? Seemingly to subsidize the billionaire-backed stadium she has been working on with Donald Trump.
Send a note to eom@dc.gov if you want to help. ποΈ
