Craig is correct that a Maddux only applies to a complete game. None of this β€œcombined no-hitter” nonsense with the Maddux.

Cristopher SΓ‘nchez was through 8 scoreless innings for the Phillies on just 84 pitches, but was pulled because modern baseball managers are cowards.

The Guardians are a very blah baseball team this season, but JosΓ© RamΓrez makes them worth rooting for.

You could even count Soriano's 53 PA season and still have him there very comfortably.

Antonio Senzatela started, gave up 8 earned runs, didn't finish the 1st inning, but his team won the game.

No starter had ever (or at least not since before 1901) allowed so many earned runs without finishing the first inning but had his team win.

Tip your cap.

His team came out on top, so he should probably be credited with the win.

I saw There's Something About Mary at a sneak preview to build word of mouth, and the packed theater totally lost it when they cut to Cameron Diaz with her hair sticking up. You couldn't hear any of the dialogue for the next minute or two.

Every list shared to show that _______ had an amazing stretch at the plate is really just a reminder of how awesome Barry Bonds was.

The White Sox and Twins are making Guardians fandom seem pretty great.

Yeah, the Blue Jays are hoping he makes multiple starts for them in October too, and if those starts go well, they aren't going to lose any sleep if he declines his option.

I’m not a Cubs fan, but I’m a baseball fan who came of age in Chicago during Sandberg’s career. Jordan, Payton, and Sandberg were THE guys in town when I was a kid. Gone way too soon.

There's gotta be one really good one still out there; the world needs brave folks willing to smoke everything until they find it.

It's 3 or 4 more home runs than I hit during my MLB career. (Sorry I'm not sure which, but I lost track of my total.)

Ex-Cleveland manager Terry Francona to Trump wanting Indians name to return: β€œ[Trump says], β€˜Why can’t it be like it used to be?’ And I my retort would be, β€˜There’s probably a lot of people in this country who don’t want it like it used to be.’ And if you’re white, (you’re) probably just fine.”

The last show I saw there was Franz Ferdinand in 2009, the night the Bulls beat the Celtics in a playoff game in triple OT. I’d been bummed to miss watching the game, but when the concert ended the game was still going. I watched the end outside on a TV in a bar across the street. It was rad.

My friends and I created a movie box office league that ran from 2007 to 2019. There was eventually a trophy called the Bosskar (an Oscar with the head of Bossk, a minor character from The Empire Strikes Back). Each year’s winner got a small one, and a big one was passed around from year to year.

JosΓ© RamΓrez's HR tonight was the 700th extra-base hit of his career, all with the Guardians, of course.
