Anyone who reads any of this as the left absolving MTG is more deeply unserious than a clown doing water ballet with a balloon dolphin. Its a condemnation of the supposedly moral individuals who are on record multiple times now being more bloodthirsty or less humane than an actual unhinged lunatic.

I thought it was because their pizza was second to Detroit and NYC (which are tied for first).

They Thought They Were Free: The Germans, 1933-45 by Milton Mayer, an excerpt, 2017 edition

The worst mix of Cassandra's Dilemma and Preparedness Paradox. People keep hearing about all these horrible things that the government is doing but the separation from the act and the consequence makes them complacent. Definitely reminds me of parts of They Thought They Were Free.

Thats a bad thing

The number of people who never grew out of being a child mentally and emotionally is depressing sometimes.

If they do it'll be "Fears of Mamdanis unorthodox agenda already stifling national growth, some say" or something I'm sure.

The market risks are one thing, but wouldn't it effectively make the entire sp500 "too big to fail" as a consequence? As in the execs could do literally anything and the gov would have to pay for it and cover for them or else risk political and economic collapse?

Everything at the federal level is full of Hindenburgs, Quislings, and Chamberlains just openly doing what the fascists want. I think its well past time to start realizing the people currently in power arent just unaware, but incapable. They have no knowledge of or experience doing what must be done

Phenomenally cool times in the US these days. Just wonderful. I'm actually glad everyone ignored the warnings, turns out they were overblown and every single one of them didnt come to pass exactly as predicted. It would be real awkward if folks who just wanted quiet at brunch let it all happen

Whether it's Barack Obama asking for Dijon mustard from a hotdog vendor or Donald Trump asking for a happy ending from an underage sex slave masseuse, both presidents made some provocative requests.

Many people in power are not offering an honest assessment of where we are politically in this country because that assessment would call on them to do things they simply refuse to do. That's where we are right now.

It is so depressing that it is a bigger scandal in US politics to say "Globalize the Intifada" than to starve tens of thousands of people to death on purpose.

Literally every single so called use case for LLMs would also be solved by either having more people or cutting out/streamlining bullshit tasks but instead we invent ways to spend more money anyway while spinning our wheels faster and still going nowhere.

Theres a wide gap between is and should be. Pretty sure Laura Gillan (D) even more recently called Zohran Mamdani (D) a threat to her constituents. Call it a purity test but I think if anyone with (D) is telling people NOT to vote for anyone else with (D) that's whats called a line.

People wasted so much time trying to pretend that students protesting genocide were the worst anti-Semites on the planet while actual neo-nazis rose to the mainstream

Every time I see Netanyahu's name in a post, I realize the person has no idea what the actual problem is. And I can't understand why so many believe the guy who has been elected repeatedly for like longer than I've been alive has never represented the ideas of the voters who voluntarily elected him

NYT in 1944:

Clearly the Nazis don't plan to kill all the Jews in the world because after all the phrase above Auschwitz says "Work Will Set You Free," so obviously the intent is forced labor, not extermination

Our Reporter Got Into Gaza. He Witnessed a Famine of Israel’s Making. The people of Gaza face starvation under the joint U.S.-Israeli food distribution system run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.

"Imagine if Toronto was starving."

"The U.N. system would deploy over 1,300 distribution sites. The GHF model? Ten."

In Gaza, "1 million people [are] facing 'emergency' levels of food insecurity, and 470,000 [are] facing 'catastrophic' levels."

🚨BREAKING: The last journalists working for AFP in Gaza have said they can no longer work for the news agency.

They are out of energy and they are starving to death.

I have never seen a statement from a news organisation like it.

The city of Beit Hanoun in the north east edge of Gaza is seen from above. It is completely destroyed, not a single building is standing. It is all rubble, as though the aftermath of a nuclear explosion. The city had a population of 52,000

Gaza is now single deadliest conflict for journalists in history.

This is not only an attempt to extinguish a whole people, it is also an attempt to extinguish the story of their genocide.

“One day, everyone will have always been against this.” - Egyptian-Canadian writer, Omar El Akkad.
