It sure is. It's like a 5 year old drew what he thought would be a cool sci fi car. Also because they lack a clear top coat they immediately get dirty and covered in fingerprints as soon as they get used, just like stainless steel kitchen appliances

But the reason it gets targeted the most around politics is because unlike the other Tesla models it was purely the brain child of musk, a fascist who's doing everything he can to ruin the country. It deserves every shred of hate and mocking it gets and anyone who owns one should know better

It's basically the modern conservative mindset made manifest. It's macho, it's a danger to everyone around it (including the driver), and it caters to the egos of rich white men

It's the cybertruck in particular that people hate the most. First off it's a terrible car, it can't even handle water (car washes regularly kill them), it costs 100k, and it has a bunch of sharp steel edges and corners that keep hurting people (cont.)

Nobody bought a cybertruck for environmental reasons, it uses way more energy and material than any normal EV. If you have the money and want to be environmentally friendly you get an EV sedan or a plug-in hybrid

Anyone who says they got it for environmental reasons are full of shit

Depends on what you mean by something mattering. On a cosmic scale we're insignificant, but on a human or even planetary scale we're the most significant thing there is

In a cosmic sense we are, nothing we do will have any noticeable affect on the universe at large

In another sense though we are very significant because we're significant to each other

A large part of life is finding and creating meaning with those we care about

I also have to say that any time I see a list of risk factors that more or less align with socioeconomic status (pollution exposure and nutritional deficits) it makes me wonder how well that was controlled for since wealthier kids often get more support that can mask neurodivergence

The one they say has the strongest evidence is air pollution followed by pesticide exposure, and that the others are less clear. That doesn't mean they don't matter, just that we can't reach solid conclusions about them yet

While they do say that there is some evidence of an association between those factors and ASD they also say a number of times throughout that the studies are often inconclusive or contradictory and that more study is needed before reaching conclusions

Bribery is literally called out explicitly in that list along with high crimes and misdemeanors, around with treason it's the only thing that gets specifically name checked and yet somehow it's being ignored by everyone involved

But the simple fact that he makes money from crypto being unregulated affects the way he runs his administration, which impacts all of us

Sounds like he had more extreme views than I knew about so I'm not down with that. Personally I don't give people a pass on bad beliefs even when they're also brilliant but I try to keep historical context in mind when looking at these things

We have to remember that eugenics (and genetics in general) was a relatively new concept and the non-racist parts of the idea made sense even though they were misguided. I don't know Tesla's specific eugenic beliefs but I'd want to know more before condemning him

Yes, I am offended when people make up reasons for why autism exists. That's how we ended up with the anti-vax movement and it just further stigmatizes autism as something to be "cured"
