Thank you #BBC Two, for this enlightning documentary on the voice of Maria Callas. She was the very best ever, magical, even if 'only' for ten years. She changed the world of opera. I saw her 1973 concert, and still it was mesmerising.

Out next Sunday on BBC Two at 9pm, our new doc is a Christmas treat. Maria Callas: The Final Act explores the life and genius of a woman who knew she was opera’s greatest, but also knew that greatness couldn’t last. Beautifully directed by Clare Beavan and featuring the most gorgeous music.

Francis Bacon exhibition at the NPG is so good. He’s always struck me as rather a terrifying figure but here you feel much closer to him and his human frailty and vulnerability. Superb show.
