it's over $500 for just economy and about 24 hours, NYC to Orlando by train for the holiday weekend (if I were leaving Monday? $177)

or 3 hours and like, highly variable but generally way less than $500, could get a flight today for $80

trains aren't the solution to all things unfortunately

we were just talking at work about how disruptive this shutdown is for air travel
and it's really a shame that we've disincentivized passenger rail, but a more robust train system wouldn't really help people trying to visit family in Florida from NY unless we'd committed to actual high speed rail

Everybody's talking about how this is going to screw with your flight. I'm more worried about how it's going to screw with things like shipping and medical transport.
