Even more deadly, though not as dramatic - tuberculosis. The anti-tb org founded in 1904, dropped "Tuberculosis" for "Lung" in the name in 1973, once smoking became a good replacement.

Where?

We Canadian oldtimers who discuss these weighty matters assumed it and maple walnut are old distinctively Canadian flavours, but where maple walnut continues (though not popular), rum and raisin is extinct.

Now it sounds like it's merely extirpated.

One of the most interesting cities I've visited in so many ways, including food. So much is an interesting mix of French and Viet. eg dairy esp yogurt (distinctive taste, maybe the local forage), civet coffee, street food, cha ca la vong.

It'll be great to not get bloatware updates that slow my Windows 7 machine. (My tech guys say my freeware antivirus is enough.)

On the side I'm ramping up an all-open-source Ubuntu machine. Pox on all the bigtech houses.

Yeah, we know it's not perfect. Even so, it's good shorthand for lots of useful things we could use here.

Stringband's "Dief will be the Chief Again"

Bossin's "Sulphur Passage"

Hip's "Fifty Mission Cap"

Pity about 54-40. Such a Canadian history band name. But no history in their music afaik

AI Scraping Bots Are Breaking Open Libraries, Archives, and Museums "This is a moment where that community feels collectively under threat and isn't sure what the process is for solving the problem.”

At LAC BAC too. Staff say the intermittent site freezing is from crawling AI bots.

Add this to next year's building move (assuming they can find a site for the library collection). Canada's national archive users are in for upheaval.
