A rarely (or never) mentioned point is that, unlike demanding ports on Switch 1 (e.g. DOOM) which disable screen or video capture, the so-called 'impossible' (not really) ports on Switch 2 leave the entire capture and streaming suite intact. Lots going on in 10-12 watts.

Which lighting mod is this? Doesn't look like the usual backlight mods.

I can imagine a bilinear filter or bloom effect achieving something close to this, but I would like something more sophisticated that is designed for fixed pixel displays.

The version of a game that I can experience on a plane, then come home and resume the same session with the same device with better graphics on a television, is not what I consider to be the 'worst version'.

I don't see them as more or less greedy than any other profit-seeking corporation. They're like Lego to me- they have a selection of software or toys with high demand, value, and quality, and they stubbornly cling to their value. No company is pricing things out of the goodness of their heart.

Completely unserious people who rail against the evils of capitalism because Nintendo released a subtle color variant of the Joy Con 2, while zipping their lips tight w.r.t. Microsoft / Valve / Amazon etc. b/c they make the box or software or services they like. It's barely disguised console wars.

Terminally online gamers tend to own a bunch of devices, overvalue their own myopic viewpoints, and overthink everything. The casual person sees 'oh this is a tablet that plays a bunch of games, I might like something to play on the bus and at home' and decides if they want it or not.

It is, but it barely matters because the actual Direct footage (with better bitrate) looks so good already, and this is an actual Switch 2 screenshot. Unforced error from Square Enix.

I'm not particularly old, but having grown up with the GBA SP / DS and seeing a significant portion of Nintendo history... NS2 is one of the best consoles they've ever made. And it's one of the most appealing tech toys ever engineered. Already have too many games to play, from third party alone.

One of the worst chains of logic I've ever seen from that E3 Trailer is 'both mummy Ganon and the long-hair green character have similar clothing' -> 'playable Ganondorf' -> 'they whitewashed Ganondorf' -> 'fuck Nintendo'.

It would definitely be niche, but considering that the modern LG OLEDs incorporate features like BFI, VRR, and so on - incorporating some kind of 'retro scaling' option with integer scaling, deinterlacing, scanlines, etc. would be neat.
