So⦠US export of LNG market eventually goes from 20% today to zilch. Because math.
More supply then available to US consumers (AI, data).
EXCEPT maybe there really isnβt that much new domestic LNG available?
And LNG remains expensive to produce. Higher prices for everyone.

Some people call it the "Dark Side", others call it Operations and Maintenance.
Wind power is mechanical, turning, spinning, repeating, varying speeds. You need to take care of it.
Go ask nuclear, coal and gas turbine operators about their "Dark Side" next time.

Virginia House unanimously passes legislation to require utility measurement of grid utilization
HB 434 seeks to modernize how the state's major utilities manage their infrastructure.
NWA....
No, not that...
No Wires Added or Non Wire Alternatives... this will be the rallying cry of politicians moving forward.
Grid is 100 year old design... NWA is like, hey, mind if we actually do something new, smart, safe and useful?
Grid: No thanks.

Oddly enough, Texas, specifically ERCOT, might be the real surprise moving forward. Remember it is Texas so the game was ORIGINALLY rigged for fossil fuel incumbents. But now more than 80% of new generation there is Solar + Storage. And that is why the data centers love Texas... the math thing.

Kind of curious if one of the unsaid ground rules with today's hearing was that the following terms / concepts could not be mentioned:
residential solar / distributed energy resources ( DERs) / antiquated grid / homeowner choices
If you really want to lower prices, might add these into the mix.

Energy + Consumer Protection, Technology and Utilities Committees hearing today in Harrisburg PA was worth listening too... Energy costs are a thing right now. It is easy to blame data centers and AI but their energy needs only point out how antiquated our grid is and why that is a problem.

2nd Panel ( of three) was more consumer focused. Structurally we ( the consumer) pay for the profits of the utilities. And, guess what? We are paying a bit more than needed. A billion here, a billion there, but even that adds up. Those extra dollars are not trivial at the family level.

Consumer Advocate suggests that we need a law about those pesky energy suppliers who offer teaser rates and then jack it up once the teaser period ends. Yep, those companies suck too. Odd idea by Advocate to then send people back to their original utility company when teaser ended. Hmm...

President of Energy Association of PA, Andy Tubbs, on the first panel ( aka The Incumbents ) also suggested that welfare cheats, we know who you are, are now stealing our electricity too. Plus, the Energy Association has a real concern about Net Metering... yep, the solar has got to go.

Then the usual spiels... PJM - we are doing everything we can possibly do with the exception of what is needed. Plus we are a non profit... our interests are as pure as the snow on your lawn here PA homeowners.

Background:
300,000 PA families had either gas or electric cut off due to non payment in 2025.
Over a 1,000,000 PA residents spend more than 10% of their income on utility bills, often cutting back on food or healthcare.
Transmission costs alone up 400% since 2014.
