In struggling to create—getting splinters as I climb a tree to record cicadas, pricking my finger as the image I spent hours embroidering takes shape, or fretting over a sentence not knowing if I have all the words to say something buried deep—I am connected to every person who created before me.

Tired solidarity from a fellow chronic back pain haver. I recently found out mine is probably caused by lordosis, thanks to my wonderful exercise physiologist. I’d given up mentioning the pain to GPs long ago as all I’d ever get was offers of paracetamol/ibuprofen prescriptions, never any curiosity.

Hi! 👋🏼☺️ One or two people have used the stitch pattern for sweaters by mashing it up with another pattern (so clever!)

The pattern is the Offset Square Wrist Pincushion by June Gilbank, and the fabric is small scraps of old Kaffe Fassett quilting cottons. #SewSky

I’m spending some time on sewing this long weekend, and I decided to start with something small - a new wrist-mounted pin cushion to replace the one I made several years ago using the same pattern (its elastic strap is now a bit small). I went with a velcro strap for the new one for adjustability.

My Bereket sweater is coming along! It’s been my weekend few-rows-here-and-there project for the last couple of months, and I’m very nearly done with the second textured section. I’m hoping to have it finished before winter rolls around, and I think my chances are looking good. 🤞🏼

My newly released Parterre Hat pattern includes three stretchy sizes, and can be styled with the brim turned up or down. I knit my samples using Tweedy from Hedgehog Fibres, in the colours ‘Dreaming in Light’ (a delicate yellow) and ‘Lullaby’ (a warm lavender). 💜

I really enjoy playing around with cables and seeing what kind of shapes and patterns I can make. My Parterre Scarf really came together when I introduced the areas of plain reverse stockinette - alternating with the areas of denser cables, they provide calm spots among the twists and turns. 🧶

I knit my sample using Tweedy from Hedgehog Fibres in the colour ‘Amethyst’, and each pop of colour was like a little treat appearing! ✨
