I have never found a snake in our house but it appears that slugs have multiple ingress routes (which you would *think* would be easy to find) and we have occasionally found shrews. For years I was looking for some textual or worldbuilding reason that anime characters all do the Naruto Run. It was only very recently I realised it's just much easier to animate.

I haven't trained in Chinese internal arts to any degree, so you will know more, but as far as I'm aware light body technique is entirely fictional, making many of the most dramatic fights in wuxia and xianxia a bit unrealistic. This did not stop me enjoying The Untamed or Nirvana In Fire.

As a horse trainer, that meant that to my eye it was completely psychotic. You could tell that story with a horse that acts like a horse and it would have been just as strong, probably stronger, although I can't separate my irritation at the performance choice from the film being otherwise bad.

For me the ultimate case of this is Spielberg's take on War Horse - the theatre production was brilliant, the film was dismal (in spite of featuring some horses I knew as extras) in large part because in order to make the horse "relatable" they just had it doing dog behaviours.

Talking about nineties posters made me search for classic nineties images and I was appalled by the number of "90s aesthetic" things that are just 80s aesthetic with a slightly different colour palette. That's not what the 90s were!

I suspect the Young People are finding moments of relief from the harrowing nightmarish dystopia the old people have forced them to live in, and the olds are furious about it.

We just watched Flow and what a strange, good, film. It felt Ghibliesque in spirit rather than aesthetic - a simple story in a world mysteriously transfigured, communicated through beautifully studied animation.
