3D Printing Doctor Who

The head only is still available via that link for anybody who wants to use it for kit-bashing together their own Death Zone, Survival, or Destiny of the Doctor variants.

Well, since Character Options' Ainley Master figure is officially out today, I've pulled the version that was on www.3dprintingdoctorwho.com/050.html

Personally, I think it came out looking a bit more like Andred from Invasion of Time, but on the plus side... free Andred head that can be kit-bashed together with James Lee's existing Chancellery Guard body also available on our site. (You may need to tweak the neck hole and add a 5mm neck peg.)

Finally got around to creating an Uninfected Noah head for Figure 037 - Wirrn-Infected Noah.
It's now included as part of the zip file on www.3dprintingdoctorwho.com/037.html

Of course, I made sure it had the unusual "officer and cars" wording on the pull-to-open sign, and it comes with optional support for a LED keychain light triggered by a button on the roof if you want to make the lamp light up (you'll have to provide your own wheezing and groaning sounds.)

My original template was for the Season 12-17 Newbery TARDIS, which I pulled from circulation in 2019 after CO released their own Season 17 'Shada' set. But I've decided to put this one out again minus the Season 12 and 17 parts, since CO have never released a Season 14 variant with the white lamp.

And now for something completely different... I've decided to rerelease one of my older figures that I previously pulled from the line-up (with some minor modifications.)

Figure 050 - The Master (Ainley)

Figure 050 is coming along quite Masterfully... but I'm having a devil of a time with the hands.

I don't want to give him boring old kung-fu grip hands if I can find something in the "holding a flashlight/lightsaber/two-pound black-ribbed knobbler" pose that can accommodate his TCE accessory.

Of course, if *anything* was going to spur Character Options into finally releasing an official version of this figure, me spending the next couple of months working my own version would certainly seem to be the harbinger.

I wanted to do something extra special for Figure 050, so I asked myself: What figure would most fans be over the moon to finally add to their collection? There was really only one option.
Two days in, and the velvet suit Ainley Master is looking quite dastardly!

As always, this figure is completely free to download and print at home for non-commercial use.

Like my Noah figure, this one uses a peg for quick swappable heads (whether I wanted to or not, since there wasn't room in the torso for both neck and shoulder articulation) so it should be pretty easy to swap in alternate heads if anyone else wants to try resculpting after I release the files.

Figure 049 - Nyssa is now fully parted out for articulation, but I'm going to take another day or two to mess around with the head to see if I can dial in the face any closer. I might end up throwing in a few alternate takes depending on what expressions I end up with.

And here's the unpainted head sculpt for reference. I'm afraid my attempts to color it in SculptGL probably makes it look even less like Sarah Sutton.

I'll probably have to give her simplified single-piece arms because those mutton leg sleeves are too lopsided to do rotational joints and the bottom halves are too narrow to do elbow joints. The head will be a pain with that high collar, but hopefully hips and knees will be pretty straight forward.

I'd say my Nyssa sculpt is about as good as I can get it. If somebody else who's better at faces wants to take a stab at working on their own head, I'm open to collaboration. Otherwise, it's on to final articulation.

While I own an Ender 3, I mostly use the Phrozen Transform with a smaller Anycubic Photon as a backup, since sometimes it's not worth filling up the massive resin vat if all you need is a small part.

3D printers used in the production of Doctor Who

Here's a fun infographic I put together identifying all the 3D printers used to produce the current 2025 season of Doctor Who. It wasn't that difficult since I own two of the three models myself.

Missed this one because of personal life stuff going on, but I'm glad it's available for download.

This figure comes with four tentacles and ball-jointed eyestalks so you can make them helicopter around in the rudest manner possible.
And that's all you get! Otherwise it's just a massive inflamed pair of bollocks jiggling up and down on the edge of a quarry ready to send Ogrons fleeing in terror!

I completed this model in one day... Then I spent another two weeks tinkering with it and fully articulating two additional pieces (which required building a whole new internal structure) just so it could do something stupid. 😅

I made the teaser image black and while since the color would be a dead giveaway. But I figure a lot of people will be able to guess what it is anyways, since I've been threatening to make one of these for years.

I left myself a calendar reminder to start working on the annual April Fools Day figure at the beginning of March so that I wouldn't be pressed for time and have to scramble at the last minute to get it done. I needn't have bothered, since I finished this one completely in a little over 24 hours.

(Paint and assembly instructions coming soon.) The figure is designed with several holes in the mouth and head for inserting monofilament or strands of fiberoptics to make the feelers.

I'm just saying that the special edition BluRay better damn well include a deleted scene of that T-Rex giving the Doctor a big thumbs up.
