I find myself feeling more and more Butlerian as time goes on. It's a shame they're setting the bar so high, to a degree of 'AI' we're probably never going to reach, so that the potentially hugely damaging systems they're pushing on us *right now* are protected.

I'm probably doing rosy-glassesed remembering here, but I'm pretty sure it used to be that you'd buy an application or game etc, and then if they wanted more of your money they had to release a new version that substantially improved on the previous one. Meaning they had to meaningfully innovate.

The menu bar at the bottom of my Bluesky app, which has a notification bubble because someone's sent me a DM which I can't read or clear without submitting to the UK regime's "age verification" requirement, which Bluesky has decided applies to the DM system on here, but has elected not to allow for users to deactivate that system entirely.

The agony of choice. Do I:

• Hand my ID docs to Bluesky for government-mandated "age verification" so I can clear this notification;

• Delete this account and create a new one that won't have this notification;

• Endure my autistic-ass brain constantly screaming at me about this notification? 🤔

(By the way, if anyone has any suggestions for an audiobook platform that isn't Amazon I'd be grateful.)

What a shame these particular "Christians" are so determinedly opposed to more or less every word Christ is recorded as saying.

Some of them were quite good. All that stuff about compassion, humility, abjuring the love of money, and keeping religion and the state separate.

There won't be. They made up that doctrine in the 1800s. There's nothing in the Bible about it at all.

It is worth mentioning that most Christians in the world don't believe in the Rapture. It's very much a right-wing American evangelical thing.

Why is pre-purchasing still a thing? I'm old enough to remember when there was a possibility a shop wouldn't get in enough copies of a game, so you could pay for one in advance to reserve a copy.

But what does it get you with digital distribution?

I can't dispute it. Though he then went on to name just about every region of the UK except mine as being particularly badly affected.

Frankly if it's outside about 2-25° or so, I really don't want to know.
