Amazingly neither the customer, his wife or any of their neighbours who'd come out to see his new toy said a word although I'm sure I got a sly wink(yes wink) from the wife. Did the paperwork, climbed in the van and legged it.

Yikes! Just made the step off the van and steered the bike down the ramp with my shorts round my ankles and the family jewels swaying gently in the breeze, then parked the bike and rapidly concealed my embarrassment.

This would have been ok, if slightly embarrassing if it wasn't for the fact it was a very hot summer's day and I always found driving under these conditions much more comfortable when going commando.

This time, just as I stepped off the van disaster struck. My very stylish and spacious camo shorts fell down! As I said, there's no stopping so all I could do was carry on rolling till I could get the bike on its stand.

.. turn slightly till the rear wheel is aligned with the ramp, straighten up and roll backwards stepping off the van as the bike descends the ramp I'd done it a thousand times but was always wary of these behemoths. Once it's rolling you're not stopping.

Now, there's a real skill to unloading one of these, especially when your boss won't buy you a ramp and you have to use a scaffold board resting on the rear bumper. The bike is loaded in forwards and at a bit of an angle so unloading is one fluid motion..

All in all probably weighed getting on for 500 kilos. Pulled up outside the blokes house and got myself ready to unload as he and his wife watched on excitedly.

This means the previous owner had attached bits of shiny metal to every single surface, had seats with button leather pads and backrests, a stereo system, nearly colour matched luggage and any other bits of tat he'd ordered in from China. Tasty.

Being around bikes recently took me back to the days I used to deliver them for a local dealer a few years ago. One time I was delivering a huge Kawasaki cruiser of some description. You know the things, look like a Harley but aren't. This one was "fully dressed"
