Corsets are surprisingly comfortable once properly fitted and broken in! I dabble in historical costuming and that’s one of the more persistent myths about them.

I think that’s the only appropriate response. I feel like biting someone once is grounds for dismissal, never mind 10+ times.

Vintage map of the state of Rhode Island

Vintage map of the state of Rhode Island

Beautiful piece of antique cartography from an 1895 ed. Charles Gaskell Family & Business Atlas of the World that I picked up at a yard sale 2 summers ago. Stabilized the volume, which is currently sitting in an acid free archival box, pending donation to a map library, as it’s apparently rareish.

Really thrilled to say that as of this week, I am officially a part-time archives coordinator at an R1 university library! My collection deals mainly w. vintage/antique sewing patterns, fashion magazines, & ephemera related to pattern companies. This is a great collection and I’m v excited to start.

Most of my disabilities are of the neuro/psych variety, with a handful of assorted bodily ailments thrown in, but earlier this year, I got a skating injury that resulted in knee surgery, and boy is that feeling relatable lately.

The 14th Amendment was ratified on this day in 1868. It guarantees:

βœ”οΈ due process for all
βœ”οΈ birthright citizenship
βœ”οΈ equal protection under the law

Now more than ever, we're determined to protect these essential rights.

The worst chief justice of all time Move over, Roger Taney and Melville Fuller.

New in PN: The worst chief justice of all time

"American history has no shortage of legendarily bad chief justices and disgraceful decisions. But John Roberts has overseen the wholesale corruption and capture of the Supreme Court, and history should look back on his tenure with revulsion."

Sorry, folks, much like unfortunate Brits with Brexit, there are no take-backsies. We are all stuck now living with the disastrous consequences of poor decisions in the face of rising right-wing nationalism.

The image features a vibrant bouquet of various flowers, including red, purple, blue, yellow, and orange blooms, with green leaves and stems. The flowers are densely packed, creating a colorful and lively arrangement against a black background.

Overlapping the floral design is bold white text that reads:

"I WISH FOR YOU WHAT YOU WISH FOR IMMIGRANTS"

The text is prominent and stands out clearly against the colorful backdrop. At the bottom, the word "TRANSPAINTER" appears, likely indicating the artist or creator of the image.
