Well maybe we got lost in translation
Maybe I asked for too much
But maybe this thing was a masterpiece
Till you tore it all up
Running scared, I was there
I remember it
All too well

Do you have links to those? COVID is a BSL 2/3 pathogen now but it's possible it was once at 4 due to its novelty, so it's possible these numbers are outdated
16.11.2025 16:42 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Do you have a source for "thousands of deaths per month"?
16.11.2025 16:20 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0The University is dragging this out with an army of HR consultants and a labor attorney who charges $600+/hr. Our tax dollars at work π The fact that we have to hold a hearing for a public institution to respect the law of the land is absurd. Ski-U-Mah!
15.11.2025 21:36 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0We as a union tried to negotiate over this for 8 months. At no point did we receive a single proposal besides, and I mean this literally, a print out of ours with every single word struck through in red.
15.11.2025 21:36 β π 5 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0UMN HR says that fellows do not do any work or provide any service to the U. Because only employees can be in a union, the U insists that law did not actually change. "A fellow that does work", to them, doesn't exist π¦, and our stupid dumb legislators amended a law to give rights to unicorns.
15.11.2025 21:36 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The work fellows and RAs do is often identical. Faculty certainly don't treat us differently or even keep track of who is what. I am a graduate fellow but have seamlessly changed semester to semester from fellow to RA and back. I do the same things no matter which title I happen to have.
15.11.2025 21:36 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 1This is a labor rights thing, but EVEN IF YOU DON'T SUPPORT GRAD UNIONS, THIS MATTERS. The U is BREAKING THE LAW.
This law says that graduate fellows are in the same union bargaining unit as teaching (TAs) and research assistants (RAs).
In keeping with the theme of the University of Minnesota walking out of negotiations: yesterday the graduate labor union at the U filed a petition with the state to finally get the University to follow the law. Explainer below, tl;dr press release here: umnglu.org/wp-content/u...
15.11.2025 21:36 β π 15 π 6 π¬ 1 π 0Ellison also stated that the university was aware of the negotiations between Fairview and UMP. He said the U of M contacted him on Wednesday, stating they no longer wished to negotiate with Fairview and would like to explore options apart from a relationship with Fairview.

15.11.2025 20:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Well, considering that AG Ellison called on both the parties to "return to negotiations immediately", it sounds like the U was involved in the negotiations and then walked out...
15.11.2025 20:34 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0𧡠in a bit, but the University has essentially given the state DFL caucus the middle finger by, and I mean this literally, claiming the laws passed in the 2024 session don't mean anything. The U administration is asking the state for millions of dollars while telling them their laws are optional.
15.11.2025 20:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Not to vaguepost but I have an exclusive and *exciting scoop* about the university of Minnesota, the ongoing labor/negotiation issues, general shenanigans. DMs are open if you like to write about local issues and want the first details!
13.11.2025 16:55 β π 7 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0Good news, everyone! Turns out the new UMN $200/year athletics fee actually has nothing to do with the House settlement. To imply otherwise is, direct quote from RC, "fake news".
