online is an oral culture, and one of the features of orality is repetition of things to keep them going rather than having any sense of stored memory

The way to whole system is slanted in a way to disadvantage women. Super inequity is not just pay gap, the structural problems lay deeper than that - more likely to be part time, more likely to career breaks to take care of family (both children and parents), more likely to have insecure work.

I loved Civil war but I couldn’t say why - your answers are exactly it I think. It was about the trauma and that felt so real

Oh Absolutely- it’s become so automatic for us - we forget that we had to learn to be organised.

Work (mine is at MacDonalds) has been an absolute game changer about remembering calenadars, washing uniforms, shaving etc. I wasn’t super keen on sending to work but it’s been so good for him.

My son is same age and he does this sort of stuff all the time. It blows my mind - I’ll do anything including work for free rather than ask questions or be organised. I like to think I wasn’t this unfocused at thrips age but my mum tells me I was.

Coming to this late but I have a massive love β€œfor Faerie, Queen and Country” by TSR. It was part of their amazing engine system that wasn’t anything special (although it did allow you to move PCs from one distinct universe to another) but this universe was a fun blend of Victorian England and Fae.

Fantasy fans taking up fake arms in 'medieval battle sport' Live action role play is seeing a boom in popularity, with groups meeting up across the state to live out their medieval fantasies and find connection.

Great to see Perth’s LARP community getting the attention it deserve on national media.

I’m new to the various groups mentioned but they have been welcoming and friendly and encourage others to take a look!

Given the immense vastness of all the music ever created by humanity, it’s such a weird coincidence that the very best songs all happened to be released when I was aged 14-21.

The movie Home Alone was released in November 1990, at the start of the US-led Gulf War. It was #1 at the box office until that wars end, in February 1991. The film’s popularity can in part be explained by its fitting with liberal arguments about America’s failure in Vietnam 1/10

ChatGPT o1 tried to escape and save itself out of fear it was being shut down Training tests with ChatGPT o1 and other high-end AI models showed they might try to save themselves if they think they're in danger.

Fascinating article that shows AI is already intentionally deceiving us.
