Since we’re on the topic, I find the “food is cultural appropriation“ crowd to be even more insufferable than the “eating meat is worse than the Holocaust” crowd.

I think Dimension 20 had a villain whose motivation was to “free humanity from the tyranny of causality,” so props to them for taking a shot at the “rules are always bad, no matter the circumstances“ crowd.

They should get a bunch of monkey suits and endorse modern Gorilla Warfare. One thing I’ve learned about effective protests over the past several years is that earnest and silly always beats cool. The cringe will inherit the earth.

JVGraz has, on multiple occasions, claimed that Adolph Hitler was Jewish and the Holocaust was a Zionist plot to displace Palestinians. That self-proclaimed anti-fascists would jump on a trend he started effectively calling (((Israelis))) “rootless cosmopolitans” shows the rot in the online left.

Apparently the villain argues that he needs to take over because he’s seen WWII in a vision of the future, and the heroes are not particularly moved by that. It’s not great to make the main antagonist’s motivation (even if he’s lying) preemptively stopping Hitler’s rise to power.

I refuse to believe that Medhi Hasan isn’t online enough to have seen the tweet about not handing it to ISIS. I think that retweeting the Jews-Made-Fake-Fossils-to-Falsely-Debunk-Creationism lady and the Jewish-Space-Laser lady probably fall into a similar category regarding internet interactions.

Tagging a synagogue is not a political statement; it’s a hate crime against Jews. Ditto for defending people who tag a synagogue. (Much like how tagging a mosque with “F**k Hamas” would be an Islamophobic hate crime.)

Your ability to find a token that every groyper has tweeted that specific graphic of at least once doesn’t magically make antisemitism a non-issue, and your inability to see your own bigotry means that you’re not worth speaking to any further. May you grow a brain in the near future.

Unfortunately, I can’t say I’m surprised by Within Our Lifetime choosing to celebrate the second anniversary of the worst pogrom in decades while still claiming to care about human rights (they named it after the pogrom; that’s not a coincidence).

It ends up being a decent (if different) take on Lex, in my opinion. Also, he ends up being a good villain for the more family-focused show. And his new vices are interesting to explore.

I don’t know. We’re still around, and the ancient Egyptians, Babylonians, Assyrians, Romans, Greeks, Crusaders, Inquisitors, Ottomans, etc. are all dead. Maybe people need to learn to start getting along better with us.

It holds up surprisingly well, especially with several thousand years of interpretation to help adapt to modern times. (I know it’s an attempted shot at Christianity but they’re not the ones who’ve been around since the Bronze Age.)
