Seen from abroad, it seems like Democrats hardly even talk about pronouns. It is a caricature that Republicans are drawing, not something that is actually a major issue for Democrats.

I'd be happy to engage with you on a specific example. Preferably regarding the Nordic countries of which I am most familiar.

I legitimately can't recall any online discussion of immigration-related issues without descendants of immigrants getting involved and being very much included. I'd be happy to have my ignorance enligthened with an example.

I deliberately chose languages, that I know and understand, and I am genuinely not seeing what you are seeing. I see an online debate with much wider spectrum of opinions.

I still think the online discourse in say the Danish, Swedish, Norwegian or German language regarding those minorities, while it clearly has its own issues, is far preferable to what comes out of America. Much more often do we manage to have the conversation in a civil manner.

I think we get to a better "is" by discussing what we "should", and I think this is a brilliant opportunity, perhaps the best ever regarding specifically tourettes, to talk about "should."

Yes, one should, but that does expand the scope of the discussion wildly.

The problem with the bathroom break as a compromise is that there are ethnic minorities everywhere, and the compromise would reduce Davidsons life to one long bathroom break.

The solution must be education, which Davidson is a life long champion of. People who understand tourettes aren't insulted by such slurs (I'd be happy to be proven wrong by a counter-example).

I strongly disagree that The BAFTAs, or for that matter The Oscars, The Grammys or whatever, are a high stakes situation.

The attendees are just regular folks, neither more nor less deserving of consideration, sympathy or whatever we might consider relevant factors.

If I was American, and if I looked at my own country for a bit, I would at least consider if some foreign lands, while extremely far from perfect, might approach the discourse around privilege in a healthier fashion than America.

If he felt uncomfortable, knowing that his condition is rarely met with sympathy and understanding, then of course it makes sense to leave. The point is that he should have been welcome, and made to feel welcome, just like a wheelchair-user or a blind man.
