I made the sketch to show the eventual recipient, so I had to reassure her that I wasn't going to make the poppies and garibaldi the wrong color.

As you can see, the various panels will probably evolve between sketch and finished piece.

The artist is Tim Hahne. He's on a variety of platforms. I bought the mugs from him at the Sawdust Festival. And yes, they are very well-made!

Two handmade mugs, slightly potbellied, with blue glaze covering most of the mug and black-brown glaze seeping down from the top quarter. The left mug is noticeably shorter and wider than the right, but they are clearly similar works made by the same hand. Like sisters, perhaps.

Everything is trash and my brain is mean, but my sister-in-law is getting one of these two handmade mugs for her birthday so we can have a sisterly cup of tea together a thousand miles apart.

Yeah, I don't know what to tell you other than young men in the 90s assumed they were entitled to the bodies of girls and women in ways that would make Andrew Tate's head spin. And who needs Andrew Tate anyway when the entire mainstream culture is telling you that's normal?

They were born in the mid to late 1970s as upper-middle-class white boys, and literally no one had ever questioned their right to treat half of humanity like objects. A few years later, I had to explain to a male classmate that girls actually do feel pain, anger, & sadness. He thought I was joking.
