I had a mate at uni who would cross streets at random, barely looking. Driving with him once and someone walked out in a similar way and he got very cross. Even more so when I pointed out the irony...
Some people live entirely in first person mode.

Probably the combination of people who don't really walk anywhere at all, or assume that because their jaywalking is always appropriate it would never be used against them, only the idiots who they see when driving.

Being an old lady of dubious technical skill my mum has never added contacts to her phone so all her text messages just show up as from +077xxx

I don't think normal people ever really got into it or thought it was impressive in itself though, it always looked a bit crap. But the push was there, and yet again a lot of money and resources went into building something that now..? Nothing.

Not quite as touted as Ai, but there was a strong, strong push for the "metaverse" with Zuckerberg going so far in he renamed his company Meta, and people buying up "land" and ad space and running virtual gigs and everything because it was "the future".

Crypto is now totally scam city, with bitcoin at best a highly volatile investment/gamble. Blockchain tech was best used (!) for NFTs - another scam city, and any other chain tech seems to have converted back to a normal database or collapsed because they cause more issues than they solve.

Bitcoin/ Blockchain - touted as the future of finance, with Blockchain seen as the start of a decentralised revolution. Countries invested or even tied their currency to digital coins, governments heavily funded Blockchain ideas, games were promising chain backed everything ...and nothing.

Maybe the President should label his posts so we know which racist and unhinged thoughts are his and which are just those of the people he trusts with his account?

What's crazy is she uses the iPad a lot. She does regular zooms, watches streaming TV, buys audible books etc.
She just seems to have absolutely no idea how she's doing any of it! Ask her to open an app and she looks at you baffled.

Her iPad keeps changing to purple. This seems to be related to focus modes. She has never heard of focus modes. I point out the focus mode selection in the quick settings she must be changing. She has never used the quick settings menu, didn't know it was a thing.

My mother has the type of instinctive skills with technology that make you wonder how she never got trapped in a mangle.

I'm not sure it'd really work for a whole episode, but you could embrace the snl spirit and do it for about twice as long as the idea is really funny for 🤭
