Many years ago, my typewriter crapped out in the middle of a medieval lit paper due at 8 am, so I pulled out my art supplies and did it on parchment in calligraphy with a couple of illustrations. Got an A. Try that with ChatGPT

Yes. The only live theatre experience I’ve ever had with a really, really startling jump scare.

For medical reasons, I go through extensive periods when I can’t drink, so I’be just had to deal with The Feelings all along.

I’d add @thebhp.bsky.social and @ourfakehistory.bsky.social and probably some other nerdy history podcasts that I can’t recall right now.

I got a slew of those a few weeks back - I don’t normally answer to numbers I don’t recognize but I was in the middle of Real Estate Hell and had to answer to mystery callers.

Not in anything close to the numbers they arrest at peaceful pro Palestine rallies.

Aargh! Guess who’s due to fly to Poland on 2 October? WrocΕ‚aw (the other side of the country) but if they close the airspace 😒. Should have booked my flight to Berlin.

This is absolute truth.

These days my Friday afternoon painting sessions are various friends dropping in for a chat as much as to paint.

Turns out talking about how you feel, or what you're worried about, seems way easier when you're all holding brushes and focused on tiny figures, not each other.

every time there's political violence discourse i think about how jo cox was assassinated in broad daylight by a fascist who shouted "britain first" as he shot her, and now nine years later her party is dedicating every moment in power to placating the ideology of her murderer

I love that film too, but having endured growing up in Regina I can assure everyone that fun it is not.

Done that. Actually hurdled over some bags in my way and possibly a toddler to get to the very end gate.

Past Me had concluded that being in Regina for an extra 4 hours was less bad than waiting in Pearson for the next flight.

Tough call though.

The stuff Jeffrey Epstein’s friends felt comfortable saying and drawing in grotesque detail with their names attached knowing they would not face consequences is the kind of thing I think of when I think about rape culture and how sexual violence against girls and young women is actually glorified

There’s a way of inauthenticity performing authenticity that a hefty chunk of people can’t see through. Farridge is good at it, Starmer is very bad at it.

I’m reading Carnival of Lies by @dvbishop.com and just finished The Staircase in the Woods by @chuckwendig.bsky.social. Both are excellent but I’m very different ways.
