I am not your mystery rival bidder!

24.11.2025 05:51 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Now the flush is stronger and the tank refill only takes about 1:30
24.11.2025 05:41 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0A top-down view inside my toilet's tank where the newly installed fill and flush valves are
I'll spare you the grim photos of the very old, worn parts (including some very bad gaskets!) But I decided to replace everything so here is a pic of the newly installed fill valve AND flush valve. The new fill valve very clearly outputs more water than the old one, so I'm sure that was the culprit
24.11.2025 05:40 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Happy Sunday, folks! We are so close to reaching our goal here. Please keep sharing this dang ol' link! Thank you so much! We love you all!
23.11.2025 17:10 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 6 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 1My parents took us there a couple times in the 90s and my mom made me wear a harness while we were there lol
23.11.2025 06:42 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Fill valve is a really old an uncommon design (Fluidmaster 200A). There's a funny video about it on YouTube where a guy unboxes it and keeps calling it "extremely rare" like it's an expensive pokemon card. Anyway, maybe it's just time for a newer/more standard one.
23.11.2025 06:40 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0No ripples in the bowl while the tank is filling as far as I can see
23.11.2025 06:35 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Yeah, I checked the shutoff valve and it was completely open. I tried to clear the line by aiming the hose into a bucket and a little debris came out but not seemingly enough to cause a slow fill. Maybe there's a gasket in the fill valve that has disintegrated and clogged something up? Not sure
23.11.2025 06:34 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Perhaps. It really seems like not much water is coming out of the fill valve and it *may* be upwards of 20 years old so maybe there's just buildup inside it. Will look at the flapper if this fails to solve the issue.
23.11.2025 05:19 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0fuck it. Tomorrow I'll get a whole new fill valve
23.11.2025 02:23 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Well into hour 2 of trying to diagnose why it takes my toilet 5+ minutes to refill
22.11.2025 23:10 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 1Crazy! 87,000?! Set achievable goals!
22.11.2025 16:40 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Happy Friday! We are still trying to reach our goal here and we're just so darn close! Please keep spreading the word, if you don't mind. Thanks so much!
21.11.2025 22:54 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 5 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 1Last 10 seconds of this are more jarring than I could anticipate

21.11.2025 20:36 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Maybe, maybe not. Maybe it would be circumstantial. But... just wondering aloud if I end up switching to that in the future. I've never gotten covid to my knowledge thanks to continued masking and frankly not going out a lot/working from home. I'd probably like to continue that way.
21.11.2025 03:03 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0There's a new, effective drug being developed to treat crohn's/colitis that is a simple daily pill, super safe, and it doesn't suppress the immune system like my current medication.
I still mask up everywhere I go in public. I wonder if I might ease up on that if I wasn't on an immunosupressant.
I think the only thing keeping my brain from becoming unsalvageably soft is all the different passwords I still manually type in
21.11.2025 01:24 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Yeah, just routine. With my history of crohn's/colitis, even though it's pretty well-controlled, they want me doing one every year now.

Still have some way to go to get the egg just right. It is silkier in the middle than yesterday, but it still needs to be more silky and less well-done. But the fact that I got it to take the correct shape, seal closed, and *kind of* do the slice-and-flop on day 2 is encouraging

The egg atop the rice has now been split down the middle and it flopped open to reveal the somewhat silky, custardy middle.

500% closer today than I was yesterday (on stainless steel too)
18.11.2025 17:17 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0That's nice to hear. They looked really small and lightweight on the site and made me think $15 apiece was just too much...
18.11.2025 15:52 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0things I will eventually improve about this:
- will master the omelet. may need a higher heat on my pan
- will use short grain rice (I have some calrose rice, but trying to figure the egg out before using it)
- might switch from 'ketchup rice' to another style
- will make the brown sauce/demi glace
you mean something like furikake? I don't have that but have been meaning to get some. You're right, that would be an easy add for something like this
