(2) but would def say the material on that shirt is more โ€œstructuredโ€ through the sleeves than previous adidas authentic shirts, but looks like the 3rd is more a knit material all the way through which would be lovely. i think you should get it lol

(1) if youโ€™re wearing it casually i would def recommend sizing up โ€” not sure about the 3rd this year in particular but the material / breathability quality difference between the adidas authentic shirts is super significant. have this yearโ€™s authentic home LS and i couldnโ€™t be happier with itโ€ฆ

iโ€™m 4 months in rn and i genuinely dk how professional athletes who want to fully experience the sleep-deprived wonder of early dadhood are able to function given the training schedules, let alone play

adidas really gave Liverpool the off-white base shirts iโ€™ve been clamoring for for years ffs

In Thief (1981), James Caanโ€™s character, Frank, is seen breaking into high-end vaults during a spate of nighttime heists. These scenes are not edited for pace or drama, and thereโ€™s little dialogue. Everything looks disarmingly practical. Michael Mann lets it play out slowly, clinically, as we hear the grind of the machinery and the hums of the power drills.

Our man Frank isnโ€™t improvising. And Caan isnโ€™t using movie props, but actual tools: a magnetic drill press, an industrial torch, and a custom-built thermal lance. The camera lingers as he locks the press into place, adjusts the angle, and begins boring into the safeโ€™s reinforced steel. Sparks fly, and there are no dramatic cutaways or bouts with cheap tension. Just a man doing his job.

Screenwriters have a phrase for this kind of scene: โ€œcompetence porn.โ€ Itโ€™s meant to describe the appeal of watching people who are good at what they do, especially when itโ€™s complicated, and especially when they do it with precision and calm.

Itโ€™s part of why weโ€™re willing to watch Matt Damon read manuals, rig parts together, and shovel shit in The Martian. Itโ€™s part of why Hidden Figures and Arrival resonate, or why we watch Sherlock Holmes solve problems we donโ€™t fully understand. The satisfaction is from the stakes, sure, but also โ€ฆ we like watching capable hands. We like watching systems being worked, problems being solved, little mechanics of confusing jobs being revealed by people who make them look easy.

Itโ€™s also why people like watching Martรญn Zubimendi.

Zubi just seems like a genuinely happy, kind, & *good* human being and that brings me infinite joy

iโ€™d like to think that Ethan simply saw a kid wearing his shirt in the stands and decided to send them home with a lovely souvenir

there was supposed to be an โ€œon the pitchโ€ in there somewhere, feel confident in saying that he is not, in fact, a sociopath

iโ€™m increasingly confident the supporter base is going to be forced to fall in love with Noni

work he put in physically post-injury kinda wild. excited to see how they play off one another if we ever get to see Kai at second striker, perfectly complementary profiles if Kai is moving like that consistently

09.08.2025 17:50 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

i really hope we somehow are able to see the top speed he hit just now cos that wasnโ€™t just straight line pace but what felt like a pretty materially different level of acceleration (ยกwhile controlling the ball, holding off a defender, & finishing!) than weโ€™ve seen previously lol

09.08.2025 17:45 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

that goal was a direct product of time in the weight room. whole different dimension being added to Kaiโ€™s game if thatโ€™s the physicality heโ€™s going to be able to play with.

that burst, then holding off the defender *at speed* and being able to finish through the contact is actually bonkers

09.08.2025 17:42 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 23    ๐Ÿ” 1    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

wait wait wait, Kai has elite pace nowโ€ฝ omgggg

so much intention in everything he does, super human feel for dynamic space & the technical ability to make the most of it. feels almost surreal watching him at times

i know this sounds obscenely hyperbolic but i think Zubi might just be our โ€œbestโ€ player re: embodying his role. like platonic ideal levels of great at what he does. unreal player.

crazy how much space a cleverly energetic 9 forcing trackers with constant bent runs opens up.

starting to see flashes of the difference Gyรถkeres is going to make in unlocking both wings just by the threat of his presence as he moves bodies with intentionality in the build up.
