I’m American but live in the UK. Last year I was heavily pregnant with my son while walking around London and thinking about how you could tell where the bombs fell by the age of the buildings. I went home and sobbed my eyes out at the thought of him being sent to war, let alone not coming back.

Well, they don’t sell crab Rangoon anywhere in London that I’ve found - I have looked - because they are an entirely American invention. The closest is at PF Chang’s but they weren’t quite right. Would kill to just be able to order some because I don’t have time to make them.

I’m not desperate enough to make them (yet) but those are good tips if I do get to that point.

As an American in the UK, can your note to the UK side include a recipe for crab Rangoon? I don’t care if they’re not authentic. I need them.

I’m from red country. I know these people. I share their blood. But if I tell you what they’re very clearly going to do I’m a “doomer.” It’s another way to dismiss further discussion about very real and very scary possibilities because to acknowledge that then requires making very difficult choices.

I love that and also how they call their scenic places “Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.” I just picture an old Brit bumbling around the country staring at beautiful landscapes and going, “Outstanding!” and putting it on the list.

Found a new nickname for my husband.

Happy to report that at no point was the Eastern European driver like, “You know, maybe this isn’t the most appropriate music to drive a baby around London at 11 a.m.,” so we got to listen to all 1,527 repeats of the chorus.

My baby has started making the most adorable little sounds. He’ll wake up in the morning and just hang out in his crib, quietly cooing to himself while he studies his hands. It just kills me it’s so cute. He’s perfect and healthy and I’m so grateful for his innocent little presence in the world.
